It's all so shocking. Watching him (now) on Football Focus is so damn.....eerie...almost. Can't think of the right word. Deaths are reported every day but this is really saddening.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

My sister had to deal with both her boss and her best mate's dad hanging themselves about 6 months apart recently. Both did it in a very open place where they knew they'd be found be their dearest. It's the effect it has on the family that's the saddest thing about things like this imo.
        Hello mert.

It is a really puzzling end to a guy who seemed to have everything in life. There is just no way you can tell anything was wrong with him. Depression obviously can be masked, and was. But for him to end his life so violently, so suddenly. There is no sense to it.

I hope his family can find peace, I hope his sons can live full lifes without their father guiding them. And I hope the media allow them some privacy.

I've just been reading this thread on the way to work. Very emotional and extremely saddening. YNWA.

People who think there's no good way to die have obviously never heard the phrase 'Drug-fuelled-sex-heart-attack'.

Way too soon of course, but its telling that there have been a few comments around about one of the awards (Player of the Month, Year etc) being renamed in honour of Gary Speed and his long service in the game.
Without knowing exactly how his family would feel about it, or whatever the thought process is behind it..............its a more than fitting tribute for his time in the game.

He couldn't face the thought of not being able to supply for both me and my sister. No one knew where he was, he then contacted his mum (also in Spain). He came back the UK and faced up to his 'demons'. Still to this day my dad has severe depression. Whether it's work related, family related (IE: my grandma has severe parkinsons, dementia and is 90, dad's sister is keeping her at her house even though she and my grandad want to go in to a care home!) he has always got through it, with help from the family, or through the tablets he has to take everyday of his life and has done since I can remember.

Lets face it, none of us know what he was feeling! However to end it like that leaving family behind is awful.

Its a tragic loss to his family and friends, and all i'm saying is that they will now not only feel for the loss of his life but also for not seeing the signs or helping there family more!
Reading your above reply, it surprises me even more now that you would make the below comments....

When people commit suicide then I don't have time for them, what they leave behind is the upsetting part.

Will prob get flamed for the comments however its a matter I feel strongly on!
Sometimes people don't get the help they need through no fault of their own, and sometimes people who get help..still commit suicide.

Anyway, good luck and best wishes with your family, hope things have got better.

Probably not the right time or place for this but what the hell.

On my way to the game yesterday and loads of my mates were texting me about Gary Speed. One lad said, in all seriousness, "Sounds like suicide. So sad. He was on Football Focus yesterday right as rain. Can't fathom it. I reckon he must've been depressed you know."

I was LOLing out loud in public at that.

That's totally not true at all.

Depression is awful, I've been suffering from it this past year where I've struggled to extract joy out of anything much like you've said.

It's hard to explain, no matter what you've got nothing ever feels like it's enough. You have times when you're happy but most of the time you're low and not even friends and loved one's help and love can help you.

People just dismiss depression as though it's nothing, I've been asked to try and cheer up but at times I've felt like crying. No matter what you do you can't get better.

I can't imagine what his poor family are going through and being Welsh I am so sad as he had a great future with Wales too.

                            Truly awful. RIP Gary Speed.
Mate this might seem like bull****, but there is a growing evidence that Ayahuasca which is a very strong hallucinogenic found in South America, is having profound effects on people suffering from depression.

Do some research and give serious thought about heading out to South America for a Ayahuasca retreat mate

At the very least you will get off your head

I see what you are saying, there are a lot of attention seekers, but there are also a lot that make a big song and dance about it, maybe a couple of attempts, and then actually go through with it. A lot of times people don't expect it of these either because of the "cry wolf" effect. I agree that many people fight their demons by themselves and end up committing suicide, but I think that anyone who makes the threat should be taken very seriously, and not instantly labelled as someone "seeking attention."
