The thread had alreadt meandered away from farewell to Gary Speed into a general discussion on suicide. My post was a response to someone who kept posting his disgust with Gary Speed for killing himself etc.

Personally i see absolutely nothing wrong with this post. As stated he is speaking from his own personal experience where he works.

IMO people are being a little over sensitive over this issue. It is a forum and truefan was just offering up his opinion.

If you think it is, then I suggest you visit some other forums and see how they are policed, and then come back here to apologise. The thread may well have started with "What the ****" but then quickly turned to condolences, but now appears to be turning more towards suicide.

Yes, Gary Speed committed suicide, but I and so do the mods think that it may be better discussed separately in the library rather than this thread.

I visit plenty other forums thanks and i don't appreciate being told what to do by you (site owner or not).

As it happens i wasn't actually referring to the admins/mods policing policy but to site users in general. Whenever someone holds a contrary view to popular opinion on here they get shot down in flames, Arn being an extreme example. If everyone thought the same we'd live in a very boring world.

I would have liked to have my say on the Katy Perry thread saga but the discussion thread about that thread closure was locked before i even saw it

Yes, counterproductive. His attitude towards it stinks of arrogance, ignorance and stupidity.

First he's wrong - as Paul S. says, people who talk about suicide have been known to commit suicide. Second, he's being dismissive of people who talk about suicide. It's not exactly the approach taken by the Samaritans. In fact, it's a hell of a lot closer to those who egg on people to jump.
