        £40m sounds a tad ambitious.

It'll be interesting to see how he does. He and Godin were heavily protected by the Atlético midfield and you'd imagine that United won't be that defensive under van Gaal.

I think they bought the wrong defender, Godin is far better.

I agree. It is a strange one. Both of them seem fairly old to change to a totally new system and new league.

But I suppose from Godin or Miranda's point of view, getting a fat wedge of cash to play for United, with the only competition being Evans, Smalling or Jones, and you'd be asking 'where do I sign?'

Miranda is a good signing, but 30m is ridiculous money. He looks a better fit for the PL than Godin IMO.

I'm not so sure how good he will be tbh. He'll be 30 in Sept and will probably take a season or so to bed in to the PL, when you take into account that his success over the past two seasons has come from being so heavily protected. He's gonna face a massive switch now in terms of style of play, what's expected of him etc. So he'll be almost 31 when the following season kicks off and he can be properly judged.

Mind you judging by the Moyes and Rooney contracts they'll probably offer him a 7 year deal anyway.

Agree that the price tag is ridiculous. Long may it continue!
