Opta don't even have them as favourites to finish second. Based on their admittedly questionable "super computer".
    Oh I don't know.

Their super computer has us with an 87% chance of winning the title - sounds about right to me!

I also think their forward line comes up a bit short, with Palmer being the one genuine top class player. They are good at scoring in clusters and racking up big scorelines (usually with a few pens), but still lack the quality that previous winners have had in that department, whether it be individual brilliance, or world class balance.

So, it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Chelsea finish above us and/or Arsenal, but people clamouring to declare them favourites, I find puzzling. All historical data, current data, future projections suggest otherwise. (Not aimed specifically at you BTW, lots of fans on the Chelsea bandwagon).
That's fair and let's all hope you're right. Lots of ups and downs to come no doubt - injuries always have a significant role, ask Guardiola. They do have a bit of a flat track bully style to them. Their defence, especially the centre and GK is a lacking and they miss Fofana. Hopefully Fulham have the Derby spirit and bring the ****housery they did to them, that they did to us.

That takes in their previous season's form and previous results as metrics. I think like gemini AI it can get in the bin.

The model estimates the probability of each match outcome (win, draw or loss) by using betting market odds and the Opta Power Rankings. The odds and rankings are based on historical and recent team performances.

The model considers the strength of opponents by using these match outcome probabilities and simulates the remaining fixtures in the competition thousands of times. By analysing the outcome of each of these simulations, the model can see how often teams finished in each league position to create our final predictions.

The Opta Power Rankings are a global team ranking system that assigns an ability score to over 13,000 men’s domestic football teams and over 2,000 women’s domestic football teams on a scale between zero and 100, where zero is the worst-ranked team in the world and 100 is the best team in the world.

            Are Everton ranked zero then?

Yup. The odds and rankings are based on historical and recent team performances.

Using betting markets is equally flawed.

Using betting markets seems like a really dumb idea, it would be skewed by the clubs with the biggest UK fan base and is totally subjective. Maybe they assume all fans are equally biased, but that still makes little sense to me.

Chelsea's schedule really starting to look good now. God help the rest of the league.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
