If we were to get a mid-level striker in he'd probably demand 60-80k - so same as Carroll. Therefore getting Carroll off the wages is pointless.

Then we'd have to find the mid-level striker for £12million - LMFAO as the famous pop group is named. Ergo it would be easier to keep Andy and use him sparingly throughout the season.

So, no Pardew, his value will not depreciate as the transfer window starts to shut. Andy will just start bricking it more and may desperately accept offers from other clubs. If not then it makes no sense for him to go anywhere other than a wooden piece of furniture. His value will still not be lower than £12million next year so why sell now?
    One tit for another.

How is £20m a sensible figure when a)he's not worth that, and b)we'll sell him for less than that?

He's worth it for someone who wants to play to his strengths - i.e. west ham.

newcastle basically arent arsed about having him back but would welcome club 'hero' home at a knock down/piss taking price.

But £12m is not a piss take price, it is much more realistic than the £35m we paid which was a piss taking price.

We will be hard pressed to get more than £15m for him imo.

The price is distorted by the fact Carroll has essentially given Newcastle a monopsony position.
                  .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

Similar to the Fabregas transfer to Barcalona?

That 'Word of the Day' bogroll is really coming into its own now, eh?

Excuse me for being a pedant, but who are the many sellers in this scenario? I appreciate that Carroll's intransigence means that there's only one potential buyer, but as far as I'm aware no other clubs are trying to offload Andy Carroll clones?

It's the right word, you're well read, you know that. The seller's monopoly position is irrelevant to the point I was making. I could have said 'buyer's market' but it's not as accurate, in that it implies other potential buyers could benefit like Newcastle can, and that's clearly not true. I'll give people credit for knowing the word or being able to look it up if they want. And if they don't want, fine, that's up to them.

If we accept the rumours as true, when there was more than one buyer, we were offered £20m. Now it's £12m. How would you account for the drop?

You will not find too many clubs that will place that type of evaluation on him atm and problem is that unless it is NUFC (and possibly CL club, which I cannot see happening) he'll block each and every offer.
