He can play football, he can pass a ball, he can run, like every other player here he'll need to learn BR's system, why can't he ? What is it that makes it such an impossibility ?
He is not very good technically & isn't very mobile IMO and seems in many others & maybe that is a major factor in Rogers mind.

Carroll will NOT fit into this system. If he goes for £10m or something ridiculous, the £25m loss is the fault of the previous lot who had it in their thick heads that a kid who'd played half a season in the premier league should be the ninth most expensive footballer of all time.

If he doesn't fit in the plans of Rodgers we need to get rid as soon as. His value will only lessen if he's a permanent sub and marginalised. It certainly will not go up.

I think he deserves a chance, but I think people are suggesting that BR won’t be playing to his strengths. Andy might do ok, but if there are better players out there more suited to BR style and they are available then it’s certainly an option worth considering.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

Maybe he lacks the pace and movement BR wants from his forwards, and he is hardly going to be able to drift out to the flanks in the total football system that will be in place. Great at defending corners mind.

Not anywhere near mobile enough for a BR system.

Let's just convert him to a defender

BR used Danny Graham in his system last season - similar style of player, no?

Was that through necessity or choice though?

I'd say that Graham is probably more mobile than Carroll.

I realise that, I was just pointing out that his system doesn't rely on having a mobile, pacy forward - I always got the impression that those skills were more important elsewhere in his team, and that the forward was a sort of static, pivot point instead.

Possibily, but it could also be part of why Swansea failed to score many goals (only 44 - 3 less than us)!

I don't think that is the right criticism for a forward in the type of system Rodgers used at Swansea. I don't think it is a necessity for the forward to be 'mobile' I think your positioning has to be intelligent and your technique strong.

When Borrell/Segura came to us one of them made the point that they were going to have to adapt whet they had done at Barcelona to work here because English football demanded different qualities. I think that is to some degree true at senior level too. Rodgers has won nothing and the teams that have done well in the PL are more direct than those that do well in the CL, for example. I don't think having a different option or at least temporarily adapting his principles is necessarily a bad idea.

I am hoping this is a tactic by Rogers to motivate Carroll. In the press conference he did say he is looking for players to not just be physically strong but mentally strong aswell. This could be his way of testing Carroll also the comments he made about going loan he said in respect of any player not just Carroll.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out
