Milan are looking to get rid of cassano. I bet we could get him for 3/4m euros.

We get enough stick about Suarez. Don't think Mr No Queers as a strike partner would help our image too much

Any further details about the fistfight between a raging Rodgers and a drunk naked Carroll in the car park?

Newcastle United say the ball is in Liverpool's court over £12m transfer of Andy Carroll

Newcastle United will not raise their £12m offer for Andy Carroll and insist it is up to Liverpool whether they want to keep an unhappy player they do not have a role for or grant him his wish to return to Tyneside.

Carroll is desperate to return to the club where he emerged as one of the best young centre-forwards in the country and Newcastle would love to welcome him back.

But owner Mike Ashley is adamant Liverpool have to accept they vastly over-paid for the 23-year-old when they signed him for a British record £35m in January last year and that Newcastle’s offer reflects his proper market value.

Newcastle would like to initially sign Carroll on loan, with a view to a permanent move, but could be persuaded to pay the £12m in one lump now if Liverpool re-open negotiations.

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers would like Carroll’s future to be resolved as soon as possible so he has time to sign a replacement.

Carroll has been warned he will not be first-choice should he remain at Anfield as he does not fit into Rodgers’ preferred style of play.

That would potentially jeopardise his place in Roy Hodgson’s England squad, but the attempted brinkmanship has done little to strengthen Liverpool’s negotiating position.

Carroll has rejected a move to West Ham United, leaving the club he so badly wants to return to as the only one to have made an offer and with time running out, Rodgers must decide whether to take what he can or make the best of a bad situation.

Newcastle are also waiting to see whether Lille make a similar decision regarding right-back Mathieu Debuchy, although they are also braced to fight off late interest in their midfielder Cheick Tiote.

Debuchy has repeatedly made it clear he wants to leave, but Lille have rejected two offers from Newcastle and have ordered him to stay. Debuchy must now decide whether to force his employer’s hand or accept the move is not going to happen in this window.

Tiote has not expressed any desire to leave Newcastle this summer, but Telegraph Sport understands he is attracting fresh interest from rival Premier League clubs.

Manchester City, United and Tottenham have both enquired about the Ivory Coast international’s availability in recent months, but have baulked at the £20m asking price.

Newcastle, though, are still worried a bid will come and that the player will ask to leave when that happens.

So just the £23million depreciation over 18 months.

Cheeky cunts Newcastle. They turned down £30m from us ffs. We should be adamant that they vastly overpay too ffs.

I know we need the money and he's not going to play but £12m is rubbing our ****ing noses in it.

The thing is, if someone does come in for Tiote and they need a replacement striker we need to play hardball and hold out till they have to pay a wedge at the last minute - just as they took up for more than he was worth because they knew we worth desperate

                              Tiote plays centre mid mate.

£12m?! Tell them to **** off. We should just keep hold of Carroll under the circumstances, have him as a plan B option from the bench. A sensible offer would be around £20m, but £12m is just taking the piss.
