England’s senior players will actively encourage the appointment of a foreign manager because they consider the list of English candidates, with Glenn Hoddle increasingly prominent in the Football Association’s thinking, to be underwhelming.
The search for the new manager will begin in earnest on Friday when the FA’s chief executive, Martin Glenn, the technical director, Dan Ashworth, and the vice-chairman, David Gill, meet at St George’s Park to work out their strategy now Gareth Southgate has ruled himself out of taking the job on an interim basis and it seems increasingly unlikely Arsène Wenger, though willing to discuss the vacancy, will be tempted.
Hoddle is being considered for the role the FA initially assumed Southgate would accept and Ashworth will meet Scott Parker for exploratory talks in the next few days as part of a wider search about involving former England players in the new regime.

As much as I dislike Fat Sam he can organise a team & the work he did at Bolton goes by pretty much without being given the proper credit
Big step up to International footy & dealing with all those prima donnas....What do you mean it could've been anyone? Name me one person who's got a grudge against penguins

Redknapp is only good when he can get his trusted players in. Someone like Allardyce is good enough for England. He isnt Elite Level, but international management doesnt need that. It needs a man who can organise a team and get them to play to their strengths. He can do that.
He is probably the best English candidate after Howe, who I assume the FA wont touch because of his new fangled ideas.
FWIW Allerdyce is a pretty progressive manager off the pitch, although I dont know how much anymore. He introduced quite a lot of new ideas to Bolton during his time. Prozone being the biggest. But the attention to diet and warming up/down was pretty new at the time he introduced it. Hes not the dinosaur lots think of him. Its just because he is a gruff northern bloke who plays unattractive football he gets his reputation tarnished.*Except Michael, who died.

He did the same during his short spell as player/manager of Limerick FC in Ireland. He was big into diets, low impact training, recuperation periods and the like. There were lots of "wtf?" moments from players and supporters during his time there due to him bringing in what was then seen as "foreign" training and diet routines.
He was very much a talker behind the scenes there as well. He was known to take players aside and work out individual diets, training schedules, and have talk it out sessions to best figure out individuals.
He might have been agricultural as hell when playing for Limerick (and from what I know he was that way in his younger days too) but he was years ahead of the game in Britain and Ireland with his managerial methods back then.I don't hate people. I just feel better when they aren't around.
