Fair point about not going there under the illusion of playing good football but at 31 with no prior experience wouldn't his role suit Andy Carroll better.

I think those two plus Crouch are all in with a good shout and would be a good fit. I just have a soft spot for Norwich and thus for 'cult hero' Holt. I guess a lack of experience might count against him but it's not as if the other England players have experience of being successful at international level. He's also good at coming off the bench - which admittedly Carroll is getting better at too.

I'd imagine Defoe, Crouch and Carroll will go ( + Rooney) which means there could be one more striker to pick. I'd imagine Roy would go with pace but you never know.

Not really read any of the papers yet. Will be interesting to see who makes it. Especially in the fringe positions after Roys commenst about 'trust'.
