That list of strikers (well the squad in general) is so, so poor. How far we've fallen. We used to have the likes of Fowler and Wright that couldn't ever get a look in. Now we have Wellbeck, Defoe and Lambert in the squad.

And to think some mocked when they had the 'Golden Generation', they can only dream of that now
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

            Hart

            Johnson
            Cahill
            Jagielka
            Cole

            Gerrard
            Wilshere

            Walcott
            Rooney
            Young

            Sturridge

Is probably the best side England can put together. Even then the CB pairing is poor.

Agreed! All this talk about strikers but for me its the CBs who are worst.

Yeah absolutely. But there's the makings of an excellent team in there even if the CBs aren't world class. I think all the negativity is more a reflection on the manager and the **** way he'll set up the team rather than on the quality of the squad. I'd like to see a good few of those players at Liverpool.

Obviously Hodgsonophobia (totally justified I'm sure we'd agree ) plays a part but for me the negativity mainly comes from comparing it to the squads of good international teams.

I'm sure a better manager could get more out of them than Hodgson, and indeed one did - Capello. But the chances of winning a major trophy with that lot are minute, even if you had a great manager.
                        .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

                            I'm in

I'm not sure if there are any teams out there at the moment that you could say are nailed-on tournament winners though. Like I said, CBs are maybe a weakness but our own 3 first teamers are pretty good, there's a good goalkeeper, Wiltshere is an exciting young talent...You'd imagine that there's enough quality there to get England at least to 1/4 finals.

The problem with Hodgsonism is not just the conservatism of the gameplan and formation but the philosophy that informs that expression of playing football. He goes around UEFA preaching it.

Ok, so did anyone see the Scotland squad that was announced for this weeks ago?

                              Its ****.

I would love it if we stuck one over Hodgson. Love it.
