At least even the most thick headed will soon be unable to ignore the big bold letters at the top of his CV - MID TABLE MANAGER, FAILS AT THE BIG JOBS.

Blackburn (at the time weren't they champions?) - Failed
    Liverpool - Failed
Inter - hardly pulled up any trees
    England - Failed

We'll know he's hit rock bottom when Paddy Barclay starts to turn.

      - if anything it makes the 0-0 draw in the ukraine look worse......all he's done there is identify that Moldova and Ukraine are a similar level.

I also believe he lasted less than 6 months at Udinese.

Don't worry though he has his trusty penguin book of tactics that he got in the late 60s which will see him through.

I think it is just a little to too early to gloat.

Should he manage to get to Brazil then there's every chance he'll bore his way out of the group stages and I think, he'll think, that's good enough.

I don't think he expects to go down as one of the better England managers, all he's concerned about is not being the worst.

A bit like his attitude on the pitch then. Utter ****tard.
              3rd place. Worst champions ever.

My God he's bad. Not just bad, but 38 years of bad. If you're in any job for that long, even a rocket scientist, you'd pick up clues on how to do the job.

Can't believe I wanted to give him until xmas before judging him for Pool.

Ah, The Hodge. He's at it again.

"I'll be surprised if I'm walking down the street & people aren't actually saying: 'You did well in those 2 games'" ~ The Hodge on surprise.

"It only becomes must-win when you know if you do not win you cannot qualify. There is always the playoffs." ~ The Hodge on must-win games.

"I've been in football for 38 years and I will stick to my opinions." ~ The Hodge on opinions.

The biggest irony with The Hodge, is the constant surprise that his 'methods' engender, despite his often cited 38 years in football.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
It's almost as if a man without a single major honour in 38 years and an instantly forgettable 'play dead' style has flown under the radar.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
At every Premier League club The Hodge has managed, he has 'enjoyed' a negative goal difference in away matches.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
In away Premier League games, The Hodge has seen his side score an average of 0.91 goals per game.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
Of 107 Premier League away games, The Hodge has presided over 22 victories. That's a 22.56% win percentage, or 0.94 points per game.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
At every Premier League club, The Hodge has overseen more defeats than victories.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
At every Premier League club, The Hodge has endured a negative goal difference, overall.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
The Hodge has an overall win percentage in the Premier League of 35.05%, translating to an average of 1.3 points per game.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
In the Premier League, The Hodge has won just 13 of 101 games in which his team has conceded first, losing 70.3% of those.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
At #LFC, The Hodge presided over 8 defeats in 9 matches in which Liverpool conceded first.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
The first goal conceded stats possibly offer a clue as to the root of the 'get rid' and 'give nothing away' mindset of the man.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
                  One more pearler from The Hodge before I get on with some actual work. This time reflecting on his one game in charge of England under-21's;
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
"I came into contact with Jesse Lingard, whom I'd basically never heard of because I don't watch U21 football." ~ The Hodge on U21 football.
                  Grobbelrevell ‏@MarkBruceRevell
Presumably they don't open the directors lounges for Under-21 fixtures.

the only thing 'positive' i can see on his CV is a remarkable UEFA cup run with Fulham

they had to win away to Basel in the last group game to qualify - they 3-0 up with 10 mins to go and conceded two! hung on 3-2 and finished 2nd

scrapped by shaktar 3-2 on agg

probably the most amazing result of hodgson's career - turning a 3-1 defiecit around and winning 4-1 against Juventus - however every now and then even a blind man finds his dick

then decent results saw them knockout wolfsburg and hamburg

but lost in the final 2-1

in this glorious run to the final - they PL 15 - Won 8 - Drew 4 and lost 3

However in the league Fulham went from finishing 7th the previous year to 12th.

And that's it - that's his greatest ever season

The Lingard quote is astonishing. He might manage the seniors but he should be knowing every tiny detail about all the young English players, especially from the Premier League. It's not exactly like he doesnt have any free time either!

I remember at the time he was announced as Liverpool manager, many then said that Rafa's worst season ever at Liverpool, eclipsed just about anything Roy had ever achiever in a season. Bad times.

You've got to go back to the 1980s and his stint at glamorous Malmo to find a good win percentage figure.

His season at Copenhagen at the turn of the century also gave him a win % of above 50, which is decent if unspectacular. Utopia!

You look through his career and it is borderline ****.

                                Inter Milan stint 44%
                                Blackburn 35%
                                Grasshoppers 38%
                                Udinese 41%
                                Viking 42%
                                Fulham 39% -
                                Us - a glorious 41%
                                WBA - 37%

He's arguably failed in MOST jobs.
