Yep he was deployed next to Gerrard in a '2-1' midfield, with Wilshere ahead. We usually play a '1-2' - Gerrard sitting with Henderson and Coutinho ahead. He used the ball well enough, played one lovely little through ball to Welbeck, but wasn't able to burst forward. Of course ****s like Lee Dixon and others slagged him off and said "he's not on the plane based on that performance". Open your eyes you ****wits. Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

They're absolute idiots. They even pointed out one move that Sturridge should have ran into the box but didn't (think it was an interchange of passing on the right with Glen). Then Wright and Dixon jumped onto Hoddle's bandwagon that England didn't commit enough men 'into the box'. FFS, you should criticize Bodgson chaps, as he's the devising the tactics.
Sturridge was on more than 1 occasion in either the left back or right back positions. Hodgson's tactics are so one dimensional and devoid of any attacking intent. Are we winning?

I don't want England to FAIL, I just find it hard to get interested in them these days. I struggle to support the likes of Terry, Rooney etc when I "hate" them on a weekly basis. That said, with all the Liverpool players in the team/squad I imagine my enthusiasm will rise, especially for the WC.

It's the overhyped, hypocritical, patriotic nonsense. I despise most of their players, and I'm not going to start liking them just because they represent a piece of land which I live on too. The FA are full of their own self importance, and the media think we're like Brazil or Spain every single year.Originally posted by Fierce View PostWhy do so many want to see England fail? Liverpool is like the opposite of the England National Team for me anyway.

Fair doos. They're only footballers though, you can't actually hate any of themOriginally posted by Reece View PostI don't want England to FAIL, I just find it hard to get interested in them these days. Except Terry
I just think it's strange that football fans would choose not to support their national team in the massive competitions they play in. Not 'not support' exactly, but the bit about not being interested. I don't think there's anything wrong with just watching all the games as a neutral, just think it's weird to not align yourself with your own country! And this isn't a patriotic way of thinking, I'm not remotely so; just that I'd rather follow someone than no-one, and my own country seems the most likely option
Totally get the Ingerlund nonsense, and I hate the way English people in general are depicted overseas; but I still can't understand why any football fan would choose either another team to follow, or none at allOriginally posted by Shaggy View PostLoathe the FA, loathe Hodgson, don't like the 'Ingerlund' ****e...and until very recently loathed most of the players
I saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"

That's a bit strong isn't it?Originally posted by Nigey View PostI guess there's a bit about the imperialistic nature of it as well.
Of course! I wouldn't expect nor want anything less from you. See also, the scotchOriginally posted by McDermotX View PostAs an Irishman, it's not so much wanting England to fail, more like it's just the established natural order of things.
When England bow out it's evidence that all is right with the world.
Weird. So you actively want a team other than England to win, well anything?Originally posted by Phoenix07 View PostIt's the overhyped, hypocritical, patriotic nonsense. Used to be big into England as a youth. Had my heartbroken by them many a time
Grown to despise them pretty much mostly for the same as Shaggy says. Can't be fussed either way mostly, but wanting badly to see Suarez destroy Hodgson's team.
However no doubt the same thing as always will happen. WC will come around and I'll be weak and support them. *******s.

It is a generalisation - and yes we've been over it loadsOriginally posted by Reece View PostAnd yeah - the first two items that Shaggy mentioned.
I know we've been through this before but I think the whole "Ingurlund" thing is over-played and way too much of a generalisation.
- but it's there. The general, prevailing attitude among England fans is obnoxious. For instance, when Cleverley's name was read out among the subs last night, the crowd booed.
Typical England.
