Not sure - we didn't look much of a threat to me. Our long balls were crap and just coming back, Rami/Mexes seemed to have everything covered.

I didn't feel it was even about committing numbers either - Benzema, Nasri and Ribery seemed too deep and not looking to get behind us much. Unlike Spain against Italy, France seemed to stop trying to make things happen after a few failed attempts.

      I do.

Capello's England beat Spain 1-0 FFS and everybody moaned about how boring it was.

We drew nil nil with the third favourites when most expected us to lose. the fact that we played to deep, looked bang average and are totally uninspiring is neither here nor there.

We got exactly what we wanted out of that.

Luckily, neither Sweden nor Ukraine are very good really. So when England are **** against them too it won't be so easy for it to be cast in such a positive light.

Firstly, I don't think they did (your average man on the street) and secondly, that wasn't the opening game of a major tournament.

I think you're letting you hatred of Wot and dislike if England cloud your judgement somewhat tbh.

I thought both of them were so poor yesterday I actually thought we may get a result against one of them

Nah I don't. Capello was loathed despite having a great record and playing football nowhere near as retrograde as Hodgson's. Expectations under him were high - cruising to qualification, unbeaten in a tough group, just wasn't good enough. They beat Spain 1-0 and people complained about them being boring. In comes Hodgson and all of a sudden expectations are slim-to-none and folk are lapping up his dirgeball. It makes no logical sense.

                          Apart from that.

                          Stinks doesn't it.

Let's all laugh at that hopeless clown Capello with his pidgin English and hatred of the press. He was genuinely portrayed as a clueless clown. It's mind boggling.

Now you hear Tyldesley and other commentators coming out with gems like "At last England look well coached, properly organised and they all know what they're doing". Give me a break

He's only been in the job five mins. Of course people have lower expectations. And England have lots of injuries. What people though of Capello makes no difference to people thinking a draw against France, however earned, is a decent result.

Chelsea's Champions League win in the way that they did it has helped fuel the Hodgson style of play being seen as the best thing since sliced bread.

Chelsea being seen as such incredible underdogs compared to Barcelona and Bayern Munich and now England are being seen as the same against France, a side who England are on par, if not better than them on paper.
