France have been talked up by some but I don't really see it. Player for player England are certainly no worse.

I said before the game yesterday their midfield three of Diarra, Malouda and Cabaye was very average and they're not very good at the back either. Benzema and Nasri very much blow hot and cold and Ribery is a hype job. Yet England played like Exeter would at Arsenal. Ridiculous really. Good result but the performance and set up stank.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

The thing is if you are going to play that style, then fine, but play it well. Englands counter attack was very blunt, in contrast to Italy who defended in a similar fashion (perhaps not so deep) but were still able to agitate Spain by breaking fast and SUPPORTING the two forwards. Denmark also did a good job on the counter, and it made sure that the Dutch were wary of comitting too many forward. Setting up camp for 65 minutes a game is suicide, even if you are leading by a goal or two, break-outs are needed to release the pressure.

It's unreal how Hodgson manages to lower people's expectations so much. Unreal.
        Which one is it then?
        Oh I don't know.

Roy relies on set pieces though.

Perhaps that's why it was so bad at Liverpool. Roy didn't realise that Liverpool are incapable from scoring from corners and such like.

          Such a turgid turdfest.
          Oh I don't know.

I had written a post slagging off Hodgson and the coverage he gets it but then I realised there's nothing more to add to what's been said already. So I'll just vent my frustration:

              .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

Bringing Defoe on was a complete waste of time as he wasn't suited to the system. Carroll would've been ideal. After last night, I'd be very surprised if Carroll plays at all now.

That keeper's kit is atrocious. It should be in the Debenham's beachwear range.
