I know everyone wants us to sign somebody (preferably someone good), and Sigurdsson does have plenty of potential, but there have to be limits to the sort of deal we offer players. If Spurs have genuinely offered him £70k+/week then no way should we be matching that, its more than the lad is worth right now and the knock-on effect of paying that to someone at his stage of career on the overally wage structure at the club would be too much for me.

Not signing the guy would not signify a lack of ambition imo, it would signify finally us having got our heads on straight.

There are other positions that should be strengthened first (striker, Left back, defensive midfielder, right and left wing).

I rather us develop Suso or Teixeira, give Shelvey, Cole or even Aqualani a chance.
