Man United are readying a bid for Icelandic international Gylfi Sigurdsson as Sir Alex Ferguson looks to hijack Liverpool’s advances for the Hoffenheim youngster.
Having impressed during a loan spell at Swansea City last term it had appeared that the 22 year old would be making his temporary move to the Liberty Stadium a permanent one after the Welsh side agreed terms with Sigurdsson’s Bundesliga employers but the goal-scoring midfielder backed out of the deal in order to consider other options following Brendan Rodgers decision to take over at Anfield.
Some sources have stated that Liverpool are just one of a number of Premier League sides keen on Sigurdsson and Man United are looking to nab the attacking midfielder this summer.
Ferguson is looking to re-shuffle his Old Trafford squad having seen Man United lose their Premier League title to local rivals Man City and crash out of the Champions League at the first hurdle. The Scot is said to be looking to strengthen his squad with the addition of young talent and to that end has already signed Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell from Borussia Dortmund and Crewe Alexandra respectively.
The Man United manager is said to be considering offloading a number of other players from his playing staff that he feels he can afford to sell. The likes of Anderson, Ji-Sung Park, Dimitar Berbatov and Bebe are among those he could look to make available for possible departures.
Should Sigurdsson be presented with the chance to join Man United he may well elect to pass on the offer to reunite with Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.
Oh I say his vision there was lovely

Ferguson is dreaming if he thinks Gylfi will bypass Liverpool for them. He'd join Swansea if it wasn't for Rodgers.

yeh, reckon so. metinks this is just bacon face trying to undermine other clubs and even if he isnt after a player it may cause the price to be driven up, and he can give himself a little chuckle. odious poisonous *******...

Yep but I doubt that'll be a factor. Apparently Utd were sniffing around him but they bought Kagawa who plays the same position so I very much doubt they'll be in for Sigurdsson now.
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

Just stirring by them then. I think he'll prove to be a good signing if we get him

It a signing that even MattShark approves of! I'm very excited as we desperately need more goals and youth in midfield.

We've appeared to act with dignity which makes a ****ing change as it gives the ****rags nothing negative to tar us with.

If he's a big manc fan, and it's true utd were really after signing him, then he'd have a big decision to make, follow Rogers to lfc, or join utd and play Camps league and try to win a title or two during the next few years.

Hope he makes the right one if there is anything in the rumours.

Wouldn't put it past Fergie the prick.. Being bullied in the market by City and Chelsea so when we want a player, Young/Jones he signs them regardless if he needs them. Sigurdsson would be the most unneeded and spiteful of the lot though having just signed Kagawa and Welbeck will be pushing for a starting place.
