                  yeh so Gylfi then..........

The best info guy who they all bum to death pooped up earlier today to tell his adoring public that Gylfi has signed and he will be announced probably with the new manager at the very beginning of next week

For some reason nothing can be announced until 1st July regarding Gylfi and their new manager (who is pretty much certain to be AVB)

We'll see how right he is then,

LFC clearly working within a defined wage structure which they're not willing to just break for the sake of it.

Sigurdsson: LFC say wage demands were unrealistic and they expect him to join Spurs, though not officially ruling themselves out yet.

The transfer window only opens on 1st July, so you transfers can only be confirmed then.
The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I get the impression our offer was on the lowside
I dunno, I read that comment as a collective i.e. an extra £1.5m over the length of his contract.

Although I don't have an issue if Liverpool offered £40k a week (for example), I'm confident Rodgers would have known exactly what figure would entice him. And really, more fool Spurs for blitzing our offer; throwing so much *extra* cash just reeks of desperation and certainly doesn't back up Levy's supposed reputation as a deft negotiator.

Liverpool attempt to hijack Spurs’ move for Gylfi Sigurdsson

                              Tony Barrett

                              Published at 12:01AM, June 27 2012

Liverpool have not given up hope of winning the race to sign Gylfi Sigurdsson, but will not bow to the midfielder’s wage demands in a last-ditch attempt to prevent him from signing for Tottenham Hotspur.

Sigurdsson, 22, seems set to join Tottenham from Hoffenheim in a deal potentially worth £8 million.

Though accepting their status as outsiders for his signature, Liverpool’s interest in the Iceland international remains strong and their hopes of outflanking Spurs rest on the strength of Sigurdsson’s relationship with Brendan Rodgers, his former manager at Swansea City.

Tottenham, who are yet to appoint a replacement for Harry Redknapp as manager, should be able to offer higher personal terms as they look to reinvest some of the proceeds that they are expected to receive from Luka Modric’s likely transfer to Real Madrid.

Sigurdsson would be seen as a different type of midfielder to Modric, who is believed to have agreed a contract with the Spanish champions. Tottenham have asked to sign Nuri Sahin and Ricardo Carvalho, the former Chelsea defender, in exchange.

Sahin, the Turkey midfielder, has expressed an interest in a transfer, having played only four times for Real after his move from Borussia Dortmund last summer, while Hamburg are trying to re-sign Rafael van der Vaart, who last played for the German club in 2008.

Spurs’ bid to complete the signing of Jan Vertonghen has been held up because the defender believes that he is entitled to 15 per cent of the agreed fee of £9.7 million, rising by £2.3 million based on appearances and success.

The North London club are also back in for Leandro Damião, the Internacional forward who has two years on his deal. The Brazil striker is valued close to £20 million.

I tell you what if Spurs manage to get Sahin that would be a cracking piece of business. Wonderful player.

Try 3.9M if its a 5 year deal. Its not small numbers when you look at it like that. So I guess that's where the club are coming from.
