the only players that you could allow on the pitch without them scoring some goals would be the GK, centre backs or the defensive midfielder. there would be a bit more expectation from the rest of the wide men and midfielders players, and especially the front men.

borini cannot hide the fact that there is very little product from him. i reckon we would get a much better input and goal return if we were playing ince instead of borini.

    hes coming back from injury
the manager reckons hes fit enough to start. go on then, show us what you've got...

    another passenger. sell.

Borini said in the interview just before he got injured that his preferred position is in more central role and he was hoping that BR will play him there but he was happy to play in any position BR decided.

Imo he would've been given more chances in the middle if he didn't pick up long term injury.

That said, with Sturridge here I'm not so sure that will happen.

Main thing is he's playing and scoring.

The main thing people need to remember is he is only 21. People are saying we need to give Suso, Sterling, Henderson, Wisdom time and just slate Borini.

He's definitely not a winger. But after a long injury lay off and little chance in the team there's not much he can do. Some people may take the piss out of him having "good movement" but that movement alone has got us more than a couple of goals this season.

I'm more than prepared to give him a lot more time than he's had before making any sort of judgement.

Thing with Borini is that the investment should be protected to some extent. He's only 21 and scored enough goals last year in Serie A to get taken to the Euros by Italy. If it really doesn't happen for him at Anfield I doubt we'll get our £10m back but we'd surely get £6-7m which wouldn't be a disaster.

I can see why people might question the wisdom of signing a player who had a lot of development still to do when we needed players to slot straight into the first team, but for Rodgers, arriving at a club with no scouting network after Comolli's departure, signing players he was familiar with was quite logical.

I do think people are being a bit harsh on the lad and we need to give him much more time ro prove himself. Just look at how Henderson, another player of whom people were asking "what does he do", at a similar age and who'd played far more games in this league before his transfer, has started coming through 18 months after his big money move.

All true - for me the problem is I don't see him what our strategy is to develop him. His movement is really good, but I don't see signs of where else he is going to excel other than starting to use that movement to get himself more goalscoring opportunities and becoming an 'instinctive' finisher. Sadly, I think the way we use him tends to preclude that though. Perhaps that will change but at the moment I'm pretty baffled about his future role.

Yup, valid concerns dude*. Perhaps as we develop a system with Sturridge up top and Suarez dropping off then Borini will be used in a similar role when Sturridge is injured / rested to save changing?

Yep, I think that would make sense, but then it doesn't fit with the way before Sturridge we played Suarez centrally. Much bafflement ensued from day one with that.
