Depends really and it's a gamble but with coutinhio providing the passes and maybe a bit more help from midfield he will have more chances but still risky, squad player at best

It's as much to do with us and they way we are set up as it is him. He isn't good enough to replace Suarez centrally and Sturridge is also a better option and like Shaggy says, he's not really suited out wide.If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He has ability to find himself in good scoring chances but he then tries to be too perfect.
He needs to simplify, just like he did with the only goal of that match, and make sure that he hits the target and the rest will come.
Originally posted by Shaggy View PostI've absolutely zero hope for him if he keeps being played out wide. I know everyone says it but it's simple. He'll never make it with us if that's his position. I also don't think he'll ever be our first choice striker. He'll improve plenty and I'm more than happy to have him as our third choice striker. Pricey third choice at £11m but he's here now.
I know he's been injured but when I've seen him he just hasn't look clinical in front of goal, he's let a few decent chances go begging. Hopefully that will just have been due to a lack of fitness and game time after the injury, but based on what we saw last season there is no way we could have played him as the central striker in that system, but he looked poor out wide. As Shaggy says I can't see him as anything better than 3rd choice at the moment (unless he shows a significant improvement). The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

At the very least he going to offer us some depth and genuine work rate on the pitch
The guy showed with that goal he has ability. Injury definitely hampered him last season

For me he needs to develop and to develop he needs game time, which I just can't see him getting here at the moment (on a regular basis at least). He's another one who (like Shelvey) would benefit from a loan move but I don't see that happening to be honest.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostAbsolutely, the speed we write some of these youngsters off is astounding. As for the loan I guess it depends on whether we see him as a short term or long term signing, long term I think the best thing for us is for him to get experience. If he is going to get games in place of Downing fair enough if we see that as his long term position, personally I don't see him as a wide player, and I don't see him getting game time as a striker.Originally posted by rcasemore View PostWe haven't spent £11M on him to send him out on loan, I think he'll get quite a bit of time next season especially if we see Downing move on.The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
