I think it is more the second part and wage demands.Originally posted by Zapater View PostI'm surprised at the hatred he's getting for wanting to stay and fight for his place, or holding out for a move for a more competitive team. If he went to QPR, there's a great chance he'll be playing in the Championship next season. Like I said before, Rodgers has given other players lifelines in the past and they've taken it despite their LFC career looking like it was over. I'd say it's more commendable than anything else. I'm not sure how many minutes he's going to get, but he could be handy, particularly if there are a few injuries.
I'm surprised that he stayed in terms of his footballing career as his chances will be limited at best being the 4th choice striker but that doesn't seem to bother him.
I think it is very likely that he'll be allowed to go on a loan in January in effort to somewhat preserve his value.Member #1 of the Luis Suarez fan club

When we were originally offered £14m for him I thought it was a fantastic deal and still do, however what benefit was there in selling him on deadline day if we had no intention of replacing him? None at all. In hindsight I'm made up that he's stayed
I'd much rather have 4 recognised strikers than 3 and our squad is stronger with Borini than without him. He's a good young player that struggled with injury in the year he signed but showed last year what he was capable of. If we get injuries to sturridge or Balotelli, we'll need Borini and we could do a lot worse.Kurtangled in the McFadden thread 16/01/08

Fabio Borini out in the cold at Liverpool after rejecting moves to Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland
Anfield chiefs baffled by stand from Italian striker who claims: "The madness is finished. I protected the man and the player that I am today. I am very happy
Fabio Borini, the Liverpool striker, faces being frozen out at Anfield for the foreseeable future after rejecting a lucrative summer move to Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland.
Liverpool are bemused by the Italian’s decision to spurn the advances of other Premier League clubs with Brendan Rodgers, the manager, having informed the 23-year-old he was unlikely to feature on Merseyside this season.
Borini defended himself via social media on Tuesday after negotiations with QPR broke down over the terms of his contract. The London club had a £10 million bid accepted.
The Italian wanted a £95,000-a-week contract, a severance package from Liverpool and an exit clause from QPR allowing him to leave for less than the £10 million they would have paid.
QPR offered a significant pay rise to the Italian, but would not agree to the clause.
Liverpool were willing to offer Borini a pay-off but negotiations broke down between the player and QPR as the transfer deadline approached.
Earlier in the summer, Borini rejected a return to Sunderland for £14 million, having spent a successful loan spell in the North West.
“Finally, the madness is finished,” Borini wrote on Twitter. “I protected the man and the player that I am today. I am very happy with myself to have taken such an important decision.”
Liverpool have Daniel Sturridge, Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert ahead of Borini as Rodgers considers his options.
Borini was Rodgers’s first signing as Liverpool’s manager in July 2012, having paid £10.5 million to Italian club Roma. Rodgers had earlier worked with the Italian at both Chelsea and during a loan stint with Swansea, where Borini assisted in the Welsh club’s promotion.
It would appear that the Italian sees his next career move to be at a club whose profile matches that of Chelsea, Roma and Liverpool and did not want to risk being contracted to a side fighting nearer the bottom of the division without a means of escape at a later date.
Liverpool, however, would have preferred to cash in having received such attractive bids.
The problem that Rodgers now faces is that Borini’s valuation is only likely to dip if he is deprived of football, although there will be a hope that circumstances will have changed by the time of the next transfer window in January and that the striker will be more willing to move on.
Liverpool were also unable to shift midfielder Lucas, receiving no offers for the Brazilian. There was some interest in taking him on loan, but an expected bid from Napoli never materialised.

I would have thought 5th or 6th striker at best behind the obvious 3 then Lallana or Sterling playing in a more advanced role if needed. I can see why the abuse has gone his way after those tweets. He's done himself no favours with them. Ultimately it comes down to whether he wants to play or not. It appears he's been told to find another club but contrived not too for whatever reason. Im not sure the money is an issue - if you earn £35k a week or £50k a week after a couple of years you will have earned more than most of us on here will ever have earned in our whole lives and still several more years potential for big money earnings. It therefore comes to a choice of wanting to play week in week out in the PL or watching the games from the stand, as he'll presumably be behind all the new signings in the queue for the subs bench. He seems to have made his choice which to me seems such a waste of the undoubted talent he does have."Love, love is a verb
Love is a doing word"

It seems that he had three options and he chose the "do nothing" option which basically means that he's quite happy to not play football. Fair play to him, some people here appear to think that that is a sign of ambition. If he genuinely wanted to prove something and earn a move to a more suitable club then he would have played anywhere for a season just to keep himself fit and show what he can do. There's no hatred towards Borini from me, I just think he's a greedy lazy ****. Just don't pretend that there's more to it than that. It's easy money not playing football.

How much do you think he's earning at Liverpool? No way is it anywhere near the £90k that the media claim he was demanding from QPR.
I'm sure he could have earned a lot more money if he had moved to QPR or Sunderland than he can earn staying at Liverpool so it makes no sense to me that he is staying for the money.
It has to be another reason. Like maybe he's just nuts judging from the tweets and needs a psychiatrist. I mean, we do seem to attract strikers that are nuts so it fits our profile!

Of our strikers he's lowest down the pecking order. We have much better options available and there are youngsters who might get opportunities to gain some experience. Borini fits into neither category. He's a decent forward who needs games in order to find any sort of consistency. He isn't likely to get many or even any games for us. Maybe he hoped that an Italian club would come in for him, but they didn't. So he had two other options, a move to the North East or a move to London. Presumably both options were either equal to or an improvement on his current wages. So what could possibly be the reason for him to stay? We don't need him. He isn't going to play for us. There are decent teams who are genuinely interested in signing him and they're offering him a comparable/improved salary. If that doesn't seem attractive to him under the circumstances then he's a mercenary cunt.

To be fair to him, if Lambert and Balotelli were in front of me in the pecking order I'd stick it out. Lambert being a different style of player, slightly meh and on a short contract and Mario who can potentially be a lazy ****er. Got to be worth sticking it out til Jan to see how it pans out.Last edited by Gray; 03-09-14, 04:19 AM.

If he's playing, we're ****ed any way so I'd rather not bother having him around. He won't score squat for us as he's not good enough in any way shape or form.Originally posted by Gazzla View PostIf we get injuries to sturridge or Balotelli, we'll need Borini and we could do a lot worse.

His girl must have something to do with it. Didn't Poyet say that he knew for a fact that Borini actually wanted to go to a Sunderland? I don't think she fancied a move and got her panties in a bunch if anyone on Twitter suggested Fabio was off.I have one word to offer - honesty. I couldn't be devious if I tried. Joe Fagan.

I don't think it's anything like that. Poyet will have kept the Sunderland fans onside by saying Borini wants to come whilst trying to convince him to come. After the relegation battle last year, he probably doesn't fancy that again and gelt out for interest from Italy. When that didn't come and QPR were allowed to talk to him he probably pitched himself high to either fall through, or to make a relegation battle financially worth it with an easy escape clause.
I suppose I could be a bit vexed that our club didn't get £14m (or £10m), but overall who gives a ****?
