I'm not a big Henderson fan but I really did think Rogers may have used his energy in the midfield today but opted for Allen instead.

Hope Allen comes good but I have my doubts. Regardless of the mixed opinion, I think everyone would agree that he needs a much needed rest.

Yes it is harsh, but I have not seen anything to suggest he will be a long term success. Not just talking about today but he is just is so weak in possession, not quick minded on the ball, naturally plays backwards it seems and is not even that quick. At least with Bale we could see he had pace and a great left foot.

Listen, I am no expert of course and all i am stating is my take on him. So please, feel free to educate me and tell me why and how he is so good. I just cannot see it, and as I said it is only his father/son relationship with BR that is keeping him in the team. That is so wrong and i was gutted for Lucas today who did not deserve to be subbed, yellow card or not.

He didn't impress today but it is way too early to give up on him.

It's not about being an expert or educating you, it's about not writing a 22 year old off because he's had a bad few months. Theres been plenty of good performances, City being the best to see encouraging signs in him for the future.

I think this is a very good point but for me there's a difference between not thinking someone's good enough to sign for us in the first place and raving about them as new signings then slagging them off three games later.

I didn't rate Allen and I didn't want him so there's no hypocrisy on my my part.

I'd much rather be proved wrong but I don't think he's ever going to be the player Rogers bought him to be.

Given time, Allen with be a very good player for us. He's going through a bad patch but has shown plenty of what he's about and the qualities he posses. our fans need to be patient and have a bit more faith, otherwise we'll never move forward as a club.

Maybe, but I think in the long run we need players with more quality.

He crumbles under pressure, but really isn't as bad as some people I've seen around making out. (not just on here)

I didn't want us to sign him, especially for the price touted. But I'm glad he is here now, and there is tons of potential in there.

I don't think Allen is short on quality, maybe lacks experience at the top level, that will come with time.

Jesus. The grief he's being given on here is frankly ridiculous. He's young. He's had a few dodgy games. He's been playing alongside various different midfield combinations. Our entire midfield were outplayed in the first half. They swamped the middle and the likes of Allen - and Lucas were hassled and uncomfortable. Despite this, I personally have seen more than enough to recognise he has a lot of quality.

I think his game awareness has gone down compared to earlier, both defensively and attacking. Could just be tired mentally. Seems slower to react.

He might be affected by Lucas' poor run of form as well. Lucas has not been the same player since coming back.
