Bit harsh on the lad. 6 months in and he isnt doing what we all want him too. He has played DM most of the time, which is a specialised position.

Ill judge him next season when he has had time to settle in, and we can add some presence in midfield.
    *Except Michael, who died.

Was excellent to start with and although nowhere near that standard now, has hardly been terrible. Just 22 and still getting used to life at a big club, I think he'll be fine.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I think the 'some presence in midfield' thing is the issue. We have clearly looked better balanced with Henderson giving energy to the midfield three. the question is would a fully match fit and on form Lucas alongside better attacking options allow us to compromise more on physical qualities.

In the long run I think we need someone in the midfield with his qualities in terms of fast, accurate short passing and quick ball control in our system. SO far this season has been about compromising to make things work. I hope with Sturridge giving an extra option up front we will have more space in midfield and can start heading towards a more fully realised team.

BRENDAN RODGERS says he has no worries about the form of Joe Allen, though admits the Liverpool FC midfielder’s form has dipped recently.

“I think it’s one where, first and foremost, the level that he set in his first few months was really high,” said the Reds boss when asked about the former Swansea man.

“I think he’s been terrific since he’s been here, but he’s probably just dropped off a notch or so recently.

“There are a number of reasons for that. He became a father recently, and obviously we know all the tiring things that kick in when that happens. If you’re not resting and sleeping when you’re travelling a lot, then all these factors can take a small percentage out of your game.
“But I’ve got no worries about Joe. He’s a tough boy, mentally, and he will continue to improve here.

“And the one thing about him, whether he’s playing good, bad or indifferent, he always gives 100 per cent, and that is all we will ever want from players here.

“Obviously we want quality, but as long as they’re fighting for the shirt, then that is important. He will always do that.”
That shouldnt really affect his game. When the bady cries, all Joe will do is pick him / her up, hold the baby for a second and pass it on two yards to his wife!

Maybe he's not as good as passing as some think

Maybe his team mates aren't moving into the correct positions to receive the pass.

maybe its the fact h's awake at all hours making the passes thats the problem...

but really, I think 2 months, maybe 3 max and he should be back to normal. he's a pro footballer ffs so surely his wife/mother/mother-in-law/nanny realise that he needs proper rest and can't take too much of the burden.

FYI it is the 21st century and some men actually like to be involved in bringing up their kids, and don't just do it to shut the wife up.

Hard to believe I'm sure, but it's a funny old world.
                      .
Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

May the Lord bless this post.

I'm guessing that either you don't have kids, or you are Victorian Dad from Viz.

Correct. However, a line should be drawn if he's unavailable for selection due to little Joe having a photo shoot at Olan Mills

It was a joke re: passing the baby.

bit harsh... why so? I slept in the spare room for about 3 weeks at 2/3 months then took over the 11/12pm feed (wife slept 8-3) I think and all was pretty quickly more or less back to normal and I wasn't tired. If I managed to negotiate that then I'm sure Allen can do so given what his job requires. He only works half days mid-week anyway so has plenty of time with the kid...
