He was definitely our Welsh Xavi today. Many on here will have had sudden flashbacks of his 5 motms in a row beginning of last season. Before his injuries and baby issues.

Assuming he keeps up this form I think it's fair to say that his shoulder injury was a major contributing factor in his downfall last season. He's looking a lot sharper and stronger and his range of passing has improved.

Lucas, Allen and Henderson are looking to be a well balanced midfield, with Lucas sitting and Allen and Henderson buzzing around the centre, Allen tidying up and Henderson forging ahead in support of the strikers.

Don't think Allen has been great for us since signing, but today could really be a massive game for him..... especially as it's vs the old enemy.

young midfield player in the same midfield as LFC icon and world superstar steven gerrard. its not been easy for him.

i thought with stevie out of the team we would see the best of both allen and henderson and i hope they both establish themselves over the next couple of months because our midfield finally looked competitive, mobile and full of energy.

today though is a different type of test.

He had if I'm not mistaken 8 tackles in that game and 4 interceptions.

He was a little shaky at first but bossed the **** out of them afterwards.

It's as clear as day but our midfield just didn't run or move enough to create those forward passing opportunities. With Henderson, Coutinho, Allen and Sterling, we have drive and energy.
