Everybody is entitled to have a bad game from time to time.

He needs rest. He's been playing non-stop and it was only matter of time when that would affect his performance.

One of his strongest points is agility and against Chavs he was almost always one step behind and incredibly slow in his tackles and interceptions, which is very uncharacteristic of him.

That said vs Chelsea the entire midfield played poorly not just Allen and it would be unfair to single him out as neither Gerrard nor Sahin had good games.

That said, it is becoming more and more apparent that we need strong DM and even though that may not be priority for us as we badly need a striker I'd really try to improve that position in January as we don't know how much we can count on Lucas.

Not exactly related, but couldn't believe when I seen Essien playing for Madrid the other week. Didn't even realise he'd went there and didn't think Madrid ever loaned players. He could have filled a gap for us.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He really is not the same player since the knee injury.

Chavs don't want him and they are hoping to make the loan deal permanent.

          I don't get it

Joe has been terrific since he came in. The last few weeks obviously there have been things going on and becoming a father and no sleep, but across the board he's been brilliant.
Seems the few posts about him needing a rest might have been more accurate then previously thought. Never considered before that footballers really don't get any paternity leave.

we need more beef in the middle of the pitch, somone who can put the foot in and square up to some of the roughness that allen gets.

dont laugh, but after seeing the way he controlled the play i would suggest enrique could easily cover the DM slot to either rest allen or allow him to play a more advanced role. he isnt the most skilful, but as a midfield beast to win the ball and break up play, similar to the way Momo did, i think he could cut it.

              maybe

Oh with respect and not directed towards you, do me a favor

I am sure he has a live in Nanny .. and what is he up feeding breast milk at 3.00 am

I still think we may actually get a decent half a season out of Joe Cole, he looked reasonably lively on Thursday put himself about somewhat on Sunday ...

We have a thin squad and its being stretched at the moment, but overall ... Solid reasonably solid a few new faces and we will push on

He will still be kept pretty busy by it all and also the truth is we've hardly rested Joe at all recently. We have asked a lot of him since Lucas has been out. Brendan Rodgers knows Joe plays at a very high standard from Swansea so I seriously doubt he'd have mentioned it if he didn't think its affected his form slightly

No concerns over Joe Allen’s form

BRENDAN RODGERS says he has no worries about the form of Joe Allen, though admits the Liverpool FC midfielder’s form has dipped recently.

“I think it’s one where, first and foremost, the level that he set in his first few months was really high,” said the Reds boss when asked about the former Swansea man.

“I think he’s been terrific since he’s been here, but he’s probably just dropped off a notch or so recently.

“There are a number of reasons for that. He became a father recently, and obviously we know all the tiring things that kick in when that happens. If you’re not resting and sleeping when you’re travelling a lot, then all these factors can take a small percentage out of your game.

“But I’ve got no worries about Joe. He’s a tough boy, mentally, and he will continue to improve here.

“And the one thing about him, whether he’s playing good, bad or indifferent, he always gives 100 per cent, and that is all we will ever want from players here.

“Obviously we want quality, but as long as they’re fighting for the shirt, then that is important. He will always do that.”
