Still managed to do enough to keep our midfield ticking over. Good cover for Lucas.

When pressed or in a high tempo game..Allen crumbles. Was fine in the first half when pace was slow..as soon as they upped the tempo he went to ****. But yeah Can was worse beside him.

Bossed it first half, but him & Can got over ran second half. Fault of the manager. Or would if he had a change to make.

Admit it, how many saw Allen for the 3rd penalty and thought **** it we're out?

I know I was one. But what a great penalty, made the goalie look a right arse too.

Yeah lovely pen. Shaped as though he was sure to send it the other way.

Little did we know what Brendan had up his sleeve for the fifth pen.

Had a good game tonight and performed much better than his midfield accomplice. Excellent penalty too. One of the few players tonight that performed.

I thought he had his worst game of the season for us. He constantly gave the ball away and offered zero physical presence. At least Can has some upper body strength and can tackle, he gave the ball away less too.

I only remember one really woeful moment from Allen when he passed it straight to the opposition - but he looked totally shattered and it was deep into extra time.

Definitely worked harder than Can at getting back into position when Besiktas came at us. Can looked shot after about 70 minutes and trotted back on loads of occasions.

He had 90% pass completion so that's not true. Now you'll say that doesn't matter as they were all sideways and 5 yards which isn't true either.

That stat surprises me tbh. Normally that's the one thing you can rely on with him, but it felt like even that deserted him tonight.

He had a good first half, but suffered badly when they started applying the pressure big time. Frequently ball watching, and not holding position, which was not helped by Can's sub par performance for large swathes of the game.
He can keep things ticking over when we dominate and control the game, but his shortcomings are all to evident when we're on the back foot. Had absolutely no help from the guys up front all the same, who were frequently losing possession and passing the pressure onto the midfield and defence.........that does not completely exonerate him of his own performance in the 2nd half and ET, where he was often outmuscled and not taking up cohesive positions with Can.
Good peno, good first half.....not much else I'm afraid.
