I think the main sticking point isnt sell on value, it's the wages, if it doesn't work out we are stuck with a player nobody wants because of his wages, we have seen lfc get burnt by this before with Cole, jovanovic, aquilani etc. It's really easy to forget the golden handshakes we give out. We have spent 20% of our transfer outlay this window paying a player to leave.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostJust seems like some might have been taken in by this "No sell on value" Crap being peddled by the club.
Do you think united cared about a sell on value when they signed a 28 year old RVP for £23m?
Other teams in the champions league have greater revenue sources and therefore the situation is somewhat less risky.
He would be a good signing for 100k max and only a 2 yr contract!Y.N.W.A!!!!!!

We are a big club and will always make the odd mistake with big name signings, thats just the way it is and will be. However, as a big club we are in a position to take such gambles.
Look at Man Utd, being linked with Ashley Cole and Lampard. And Sneijder is only 28, perfect age because we have so many young players it will be beneficial to have such an experienced international around them."Its not about the long ball or the short ball, its about the right ball." Bob Paisley

He'd be brilliant for United, and is about the most like for like replacement for Lampard I can think of. He'd also get into City's side and on whatever wages he wantsI saw a dead fish on the pavement and thought "what did you expect?"
There's no water round here stupid, should have stayed where it was wet

You mean like Joe "He can do anything Messi can do" Cole?Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostAgain Gerrards comments about experience is spot on and age means nothing and i would rather trust his word about the quality of players and their value to the team than some absent directors who think a player is finshed when they are past 28 and have no sell on value.

Okay smart assOriginally posted by marcus50bucks View PostYes I do, I have a channel called epsn which shows seria A games and were able to observe his performances with my own eyes.
He was poor last season for Inter in my opinion, whether you agree with me or not I'm not fussed. I lost count the number of times he didn't complete 90 mins last season for either poor form or picking up an injury. I hope we stay well clear.

But he only started something like 15 league games the last season, so if you're losing count I feel sorry for you.Last edited by Robbie-9-Fowler; 13-01-13, 06:09 PM.Vive la France

It's not just the wage cut at Inter though is it, isn't it also the fact that he's not playing? He may take a wage cut if he's going to get games.Originally posted by Captain Stu View PostUnlikely and highly impossible.
He's leaving a club who are undertaking a wage-cutting exercise so why come to us when we're doing exactly the same? We'd want him to take roughly the same 40% cut that Inter did and he's made it abundantly clear that he doesn't want a paycut. The only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.
