Ajax sensation is concerned Brendan Rodgers is dragging his heels after initial interest

Liverpool target Christian Eriksen will snub the Kop and sign a new contract at Ajax if Brendan Rodgers does not make a £15million offer in the next month, writes the Sunday People.

Danish dazzler Eriksen is keen on a move to Anfield, with the Reds on his trail for the past few months and battling Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund for his signature. However Eriksen’s camp has revealed that the *attacking midfielder is set to sign a new Ajax deal because of ‘mixed messages’ from Merseyside.

A source close to Eriksen said: “One minute there was a concrete interest and Liverpool were willing to pay the fee, but now they are taking their time.”

Rodgers is weighing up the market before making a firm bid for a player who is one of the brightest talents in Europe – but also similar in style to some of his other players.

The Dane is willing to commit to Ajax if he does not get the answer he wants from Liverpool – or Dortmund.

Kop boss Rodgers is desperate to persuade Tottenham to sell him England Under-21 left-back Danny Rose.

Rose enjoyed a successful season-long loan at Sunderland but has yet to hear whether Spurs intend to make him their first-choice left-back next season.

To be honest we need a defensive midfielder far more than we need an attacking midfielder.

We also need more quality.

Suso, Shelvey and Allen have all been tried out in that role and it hasn't really worked out for any of them. Coutinho looks the business in that role but having just him isn't enough to get us in to the CL, he can drift wide and offer more than Downing for example.

To be fair, £15m seems to be what he is valued at. Liked what little I've seen of him and 12-18 months ago I would have said he was a perfect replacement for Gerrard. Unsure whre he would fit into the team/formation now???
