I sort of get the keeping Kolo around what with losing two older heads in the dressing room with Gerrard and Johnson but you'd hope his involvement in league games was kept to a minimum

Same with Lambert. I like the idea of them being at the club but would rather not see them actually play.

this is a joke of a signing to be honest.

If we want an experienced player or two within the squad, then i would prefer if we signed someone that can actually add something to the first team selection every now and then - like Cambiasso on a free for a year.

For me, Kolo would be below Lovren in the pecking order - and i wouldnt have Lovren anywhere near the first team!!!

Like someone said above, I would rather Coates ahead of Kolo the Clown.

The decision to offer him another year seems a strange one given how little time he has played this year. Also given that we could be bringing Coates, Wisdom and Ilori back into the squad this summer, all of whom if we imagine having a future with us should probably be ahead of Toure in the pecking order, he could find himself about 7th choice

The other side is he is an experienced player who adds something to the training ground / dressing room, but if he isn't going to be on the pitch how valuable is that? Given we have been looking to cut the wage bill and he is probably on a decent wage, it doesn't seem to make sense.

Yeah it's a weird one alright. If a club is looking for a calm, experienced head that the youngsters can rely on in a high pressure situation...... Kolo is probably the worst possible player you could look to. He's an absolute headless maniac

He does make me laugh though & maybe FSG think he's hilarious also, so on the basis on that I can see why we've gave him another contract

I agree that this makes no sense from a playing perspective. Other than the game in Madrid he did nothing to warrant another 12 months when we have plenty of other younger players who could improve given more playing time
