He looks as good as I hoped he might be. Like Sturridge it looks like he has come with a point to prove and the perfect attitude.

Hopefully we can add one or two more players like that before the window ends.

As much as Carra was a great organiser and leader for the defence and would always put his body on the line, he did have a real lack of pace and wasn't great in the air. Toure, on the other hand, is a lot more suited to winning one-on-one battles, both in the air and on the ground. Combined with his experience and obvious enthusiasm, he's looking like an excellent signing.

Suppose you have a physicist and a sociologist standing at the side of a field, observing a set of events unfolding on the field. The physicist does [describes] it using the terminology of mass and velocity and frequency of radiation and the rest. And the sociologist does it by describing it as a rugby match.

I rarely saw him beaten in the air and if he was that slow, he never would have been able to play full back . He is/was much quicker than people give him credit for and I recall an interview a months ago when Carra mentioned this point.

I think it's fair to say he lost a yard or two in his latter years. Carra was never that strong in the air and got beaten heaps. I recall vividly a couple of years ago when Van Persie outmuscled him to score a header!

Probably goes to show how much we underrate players at other clubs and possibly overrate players here. He's been quality, our best defender so far and just an all round likeable fella.

We should keep trying to pick up City's cast offs as the last 2 (3 if you include Sturridge) have been excellent!

He's a bit rash in his challenges, but his desire to win the ball and commit himself are signs of a dominant, commanding centre-back.

What I try to remember is that this is his first string of games as a starter in a competitive environment for a while. At Manchester City during last season, he was used as a squad player, but with us, he's cemented his place, ensuring stability and a consistent run of games to improve his playing ability even further.

I can't wait to see what he'll be like a month from now.

I don't agree. I thought he was very assured and committed in his challenges. I don't recall him giving away too much free kick wise.
