Many factors cost us the title, a major one being we were unprepared mentally which led to many issues.

Kolo Toure has vowed to “fight until the end” to prove he deserves a new contract at Liverpool.

The veteran Ivorian defender is expected to be released when his current deal expires this summer.

Liverpool have already lined up a replacement with centre-back Joel Matip arriving from Schalke on a free transfer.

However, Toure refuses to accept that the signing of the Cameroon international means he has no future at Anfield.

“If I keep performing that will force people to change their minds (about a new contract). Sometimes you can make people change their minds by performing well and that’s my challenge right now.

“I can show people by my games that I’m still a top player. That’s all I can do. I am a fighter and I will fight until the end.”
