Suggestions in a couple of the papers that other PL clubs will refuse to sell or loan players to Newcastle because of the Saudi owners, and would prefer to see Newcastle relegated than take their money. Not sure there is really anything in it but funny if it happens

I like the sound of that.

But I also like the idea of getting 30 m or 40m for Philips, 30m for Chamberlain, and 40m for Origi amd then using that money to bring in players of a lebel that would not go to Newcastle.

Personally I think he has improved since going to Athletico. They will do this type of thing, over spend on players bit by bit as they can't attract huge names yet... they may even get a few greedy journeymen etc. Do it for a few seasons and try get themselves into a champs league spot or win a cup & then just like City and Chelsea did the big names will come. Precisely why we need them relegated.

He must have as Simeone really wanted to keep him and rates him.

I suppose this is his last decent contract so who can blame him for wanting to double his money but surely he has made enough in his career not to see out his last few seasons in the Championship

Relegation is the risk for sure. Anyone that has a slight care about something other than money would be very wise to wait until the summer to sign.

He is out of contract in the summer too, So I am sure he could pick up a big money deal elsewhere on a free.

1st mercenary on board; no surprise its Trippier.... I would not swap Madrid for the Toon, but he obviously is a bit short of £$£$£$

English players don't seem to last that long abroad, probably just wanted to come back to England, obviously the huge wedge of cash helps too.
