    Kinnears first signing?

    LATEST GOSSIP
Newcastle could be poised to make a move for West Ham winger Matt Taylor, reports talkSPORT.

The 31-year-old has become frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities and has been linked with a switch away from Upton Park this summer.
I am sure that will appease the Geordie faithful

Remember that, although I think it was Dr Gloom if I recall correctly........there were reviews every match (marks out of 10 as well), which made our post-match comment threads look like well balanced, constructive criticism.

It's the return of the Spot When Joe Kinnear Says Something Factually Accurate Game!:

"Every top club in the land has got [a director of football]" – nope.

"I've been a manager for 35 years" – not here, either.

"I've won every award there is in football as a player" – no.

"My experience as a manager for all those years – 10 years at Wimbledon …" – ooh, close. Actually seven.

"… two years at Nottingham Forest …" – tch. More like 10 months.

" … almost two years at Newcastle" – bah! Just over six months.

"I think all those qualities put me head and shoulders above every other director of football" – nope, no winners. Be sure to join us for the next round whenever he next opens his mouth.

I see Kinnear's clearing out his old guard.

Though that is actually an insult to the muppets.

Papiss Cisse is being forced to train on his own after Newcastle got tough with the 28-year-old striker, who is reported to have refused to wear a shirt bearing the logo of their new sponsor, a pay-day loans company, on religious grounds.

Punished for exercising religious beliefs. Newcastle better make damn sure they can prove the real reason is to force a move or they could be in trouble.

So the alternative is what? He's a highly paid employee who is refusing to wear the team shirt. Regardless of his beliefs its bollocks in this instance. He's made his point, he should leave it at that. A club can't be held to ransom by this kind of thing.

As a Muslim, I agree with Bob. Fasting is on thing but not wearing a shirt which isn't even associated with alcohol is another. If he wants to continue being a good Muslim then he has to resign (hand in transfer request). Anything else would be underhanded, i.e. un-Islamic.

I think what he's doing is pretty refreshing, he's backing up his personal values with more than words, I'm clueless when it comes to the religious aspect so I'm not sure if it can be considered part of his religious beliefs but at least he's backed up his words. But I agree if he wants out, which is pretty much the only solution surely? He should hand in a transfer request.
