Its great for his confidence - but now to see him do it against a good team

Confusing why we have not seen more of him and Moses seems to be Brendan's go to sub, I would really like to see him get a decent spell against Oldham

I think the problem is we don't know where he fits in should he be one of the attacking midfielders or the deeper lying ones? I haven't seen enough to know. He has looked decent enough when he has come on so it is strange that we haven't seen more of him.

yeah he doesn't look pacy enough to be one of the wide attacking 3 and he doesn't seem to be solid enough to play in one of the midfield three.

I think in another league he'd be ideal for a deep lying playmaker role. Unfortunately with the rough and tumble and pace of the Premier League he'd be far too lightweight to play that position for us here.

I think we should start him in the number 10 role against Oldham and see how he gets on.

I think that the number 10 role is the best option but he has some strong competition for that place.

a few years back under rafa in the 4-5-1 set up as cover for gerrard, he'd have had his place

                --------------mascher-----alonso-------------

                kuyt---------------alberto---------------riera/maxi

                -------------------torres-----------------

then again, looking at it, with Mascher/Alonso in centre mid, torres when he was class and kuyts work rate, i could have played and been productive

If he can't get any game time now he'll be even less likely to next season with Suso back and whoever we sign in between.

Someone who knows someone who knows someone.......who works at the club say Alberto is being groomed for next season. He's doing tons of physical work at Melwood in an effort to get him bulked up. They don't want his confidence being shattered by being unprepared for the Premier League.

Seems a little far fetched to me personally. Not as if he's 17 years old with Messi-like talent but we'll see!

And yet they put Little Phil Coutinho straight in to the fray.

I'm sure there's some truth in that. I'd be amazed if they don't have him working on his strength in the gym.

I don't get this Alberto bashing - he is one for the medium to long term, is still young and adapting to a new country and league. What we have seen has been promising in patch's - unfortunately lack of Europe etc have limited the amount of time he has gotten, but the same can be said of alot of our junior players. A good cup run and Europe next year should help him and other a huge amount as we will have to rotate more.
