Liverpool's Luis Alberto hits hat-trick for under-21s
Liverpool starlet Luis Alberto has thrown his hat into the ring for a first team chance.
Earlier today on HITC we asked how Liverpool would replace Coutinho if the Brazilian's shoulder injury picked up against Swansea turns out to be worse than first feared.
One of the lead contenders is the player signed from Sevilla, youngster Luis Alberto.
Alberto starred on loan at Barcelona B last season, combining with Everton loanee Gerard Deulofeu to devastating effect but has so far had to bide his time at Liverpool.
Now his chance is surely imminent.
Alberto scored a hat-trick as Liverpool's under-21 side came from behind to turn around a 2-0 deficit against Sunderland to win 5-2.
Raheem Sterling and Jack Munn scored the Reds' other goals, in a night which belonged to Alberto, who stroked home his third from the penalty spot.
If he is not handed a starting opportunity at the weekend, then Alberto should fear not - for Liverpool have a Capital One Cup game against Manchester United next week.
The need for squad rotation will see his chance surely come; after his hat-trick he surely merits it. An early heads up to the returning Luis Suarez; don't be surprised if this youngster steals the headlines away from your comeback.
Is Alberto ready for a first team run? Surely he can't be left out much longer?
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?
