Van Persie wanted to win the league before he finishes & the scum offered him the best opportunity. He's what 29 & had a year to go on his contract didn't he? That's expensive considering that IMO.

Re Willian. I don't know his value but the club will only pay what they think he's worth.
Me, I’m either planning a holiday or I’m on one.

I can also point out that if hes so amazing why is it no other large teams have ever gone for him. Remembering that he IS 25 and plenty already know of him, because as already said, hes meant to be an amazing talent. An amazing talent no other larger teams want.
Are City a big team? They had a 30m bid rejected this window. If you're talking about Real or Madrid, I think it well documented the attacking talent they wanted in the summer.

One would be twice as long.
haha I'm sorry but anyone who says they would have been happy for the club to pay £30m for Coutinho back then (not knowing what they know now) are talking out of their arse. A few of us wanted him before he was linked but he wasn't getting any game time for inter and only showed flashes of brilliance so to say you'd have paid £30m is nonsense.

Lots of different factors. Those teams are considered wealthy, we are not, so other clubs will want more money and keep saying no. They might of also been after players that the other teams could of do without and refused to sell. But we're after a player from a team whos wanting to sell.

If Rodgers want him and we can afford him then we must do everything we can to get him.

Splash the cash and do a quick deal before a club like Monaco or PSG offer him fantasy wages.

I'm sure whoever sells the Fellaini wigs at the Everton games has his fingers crossed he'll sign, as he'll make a slaying in Merseyside.

Thats fine. But he was the first player in many years that I was hoping with every toe on my right foot that we would sign him. The first time I actually believed we would get someone who was very young but would become an absolute star. So for me no, its not nonsense. I wanted us to sign him badly. I recall plenty on here were saying they werent too sure about him. But I wanted him day 1.

Best thing about his, Coutinho, Sturridge and even Aspas' style of football is they like their sixpence turns.

Not easy to defend against. Defenders would prefer a Downing type predictable player that allows them vital recovery seconds. We could see many games where the opposition finish with 10 men or less.

A 4-4-2 line up in which Suarez and Sturridge are up front while Coutinho and Willian occupy the wide midfield positions would be devastating.

I'm not saying you didn't want him. Personally I only remember Arn and Mostar talking about him but that's not the point. I just don't believe anyone would have been happy for the club to pay £30m back then. Why would you when he hardly played for inter and wasn't consistent in his performances.

I don't think we are suited to a 4-4-2, and playing Countinho wide of a midfield four is criminal waste.

                          Rodgers don't do 4-4-2

We played 4-4-2 yesterday and it worked pretty well, and playing wide in a midfield four isn't as bad for Coutinho because there is more space in the middle for him to drift inside. It isn't clogged by three central midfielders.

Did we? I was looking at an interchanging 4 3 3.

All well and good saying, 'Oh, we should go for Lamela instead'.
Reality check, we aren't in the champions league and have been no where near the top 4 for 4 years.
