No it might not be a good look, but Quansah has given interviews saying he looked for his move and that the buy back clause meant if he did well with the extra game time, then he could return.

Plus do not think, even with rotation, Quansah would have gotten the game time he has this season had he stayed with us. So better for his development that he moved.

The Elliot move is a mess, though easy for me to say that now with the advantage of hindsight.

Of course there is another aspect or two that could be at play also, ones that we are fans would not really know much about.

One could be that it is as simple as it being the way Slot wants to manage the health/physical development of young players (and not throwing them into a shotstorm being part of that).

The second could be that the young players might not be impressing in training to the level required. Now Rio has looked good from the little I have seen him, but how many of the rest can we honestly say would be as close to being a 100% solid rotation player for the first team as possible right now? I honestly cannot say there are many I would say look defo ready.

Of course an arguement could be made of how if you don't try them, how do you know, and that then could be referred to the manager and the back room team seeing the younger players in training.

Given Slot, prior to Liverpool, did have a track record of assembling very young teams, I would say he is not adverse to playing young players that he thinks are good enough.

So with our young players I suspect it may be a case of him not thinking a number of them are not ready yet and hose ones are being protected, or that he thinks a number of them are just not good enough full stop.

Slot should at least release the younger players like Rio & Trey to play the occasional match for the 19’s in Europe or the 21’s domestically to help their development & keep them match fit.

Might not be all Slot. We as fans might think that, but there will be others with a say too.

I suppose it boils down to whether training with senior pros day in day out is seen as better for their development than playing with other young players that they may be a level above.

I am thinking along the lines of what we have to do with some of the kids at the ABC. Most can train and spar with each other (within experience and weight class limits etc) but we have a few that are that bit too good for their age/weight class that we have spar with kids from other ABCs (sometimes they come to us or we go to them) or they spar with me (though size and weight class becomes an issue there so I have to pull punches) so that they are always sparring at their own level or a notch above rather than sparring and working downward.

I am applying that logic to the younger footballers at LFC that may have outgrown their peers but that are not quite at the level of the seniors. They may be at the point where training/playing with their peers keeps them fit but it actually stalls their progress as they are not challenged as much by those same peers. So they train with the first team so their are forced to work upwards and face challenges to improve themselves each session.

Slot talked about how Rio has two days off a week from training right now so he’s not overtrained. Looking at players like Danns, who he mentioned as being overtrained, and others in our academy alone this might be a better approach longterm.

I wonder if the intense overtraining has impacted Bajčetić and Gordon as well as Danns. I’d prefer for Rio to be around in 10 years rather than having a big first few years before burning out.

As much as I want to see him play more and have been calling for it he’s only just turned 17. Maybe the clubs approach will pay off and the next bunch won’t struggle like Danns, Gordon and Bajcetic.

How many great young players over the years have burst onto the scene and then struggled with injury and not gone on with how they started due to being overplayed.

Isn’t Yamal having issues already with a persistent injury that needs to be very carefully managed and could impact his career. Barca are using some very young players a hell of a lot and it can’t be good for such young players to play at that level no stop.

I get that & agree with you BUT players like to play & a good 60 or 90 min run with other kids has to be beneficial from time to time.

If anything I swear our players are being under trained. If the previous levels under klopp was fine, why is it suddenly not and we're seeing more long term injuries?

Yeah we look for likely to concede late goals than score them these days. Whether that’s because we’re weaker off the bench or fitness, I’m not sure.

I think it’s partly due to the style of play and the risk adverse safety first approach. Add in when they do go ahead they don’t look to finish teams off when they could and probably should. It feels like it will always invite pressure and gives the opposition encouragement to get at us late on in games.

Perhaps but you’d expect players to follow the manager. After a loss it’s good grace to do do, Mbappe/Vini/Bellingham and co are of course different!

Chances aer he was already resigned in leaving and probably couldnt muster the energy to really care.

I think he comes across as an intelligent bloke and realises that getting into a televised row with a bunch of self righteous pricks was going to look bad so he walked away.
removing all the weak links makes us stronger

too many gutless players, no beef or desire. pussies everywhere... sack them all.

I can’t resist but seeing the match was being played in Saudi Arabia , when Alonso realised the players weren’t behind him & his time was up he turned to his assistant & said I’ll beheading home to pack my bags now.
