https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-47206554Refugee footballer Hakeem al-Araibi has returned home to Australia after two months of detention in Thailand.
The Bahraini citizen was detained in Bangkok in November while on honeymoon, at the request of Bahrain authorities.
...
As he walked out of the airport arrival gates, Hakeem al-Araibi seemed astounded by the welcoming party that had gathered to greet him.
Some supporters had banners and posters baring his picture, others wore T-shirts with the campaign slogan #SaveHakeem.
They cheered as if greeting a cup-winning captain and sang one of football's most poignant anthems, You'll Never Walk Alone.Another MASSIVE game

Could argue against both sides really. If Cardiff are refusing to pay it means that Nantes are demanding it.Originally posted by Kenneth View PostWell they either owe it or they don't. The money aspect was always going to be unseemly but does need determining ultimately.
Most respectful outcome would be for Cardiff to pay half as that's the only way neither side benefits or suffers through his death

Not sure contract law works on a 'most respectful basis'Originally posted by Norbs View PostCould argue against both sides really. If Cardiff are refusing to pay it means that Nantes are demanding it.

If the contracts were signed by Cardiff then they owe Nantes whatever the agreed fee was.
Emotive arguments aside Cardiff should be abiding by the contractually agreed payment schedule. Anything else is utter ****ehousery on Cardiff's part.

Cardiff are coming across appallingly, who knows where the paper work was officially at but their dickhead chairman speaking yet more **** in the media on the weekend of the lads funeral? Christ.
And what the **** is this bollocks about writing to clubs asking if they were interested in Sala? What the hell has that got to do with anything? Cardiff agreed the fee with Nantes and were happy to do that deal, it doesn't matter if no one else wanted him or Real, us, Barca and Bayern wanted him.
"the player that Cardiff tried to sign" no you cunts, you signed him as you gladly announced on your own website.
Southampton need to get their act together and get these ****ers relegated and hopefully they are blacklisted by clubs regarding transfers.

It's probably a little more complicated than that. Sounds like they definitely owe Nantes a fee, but maybe not the amount if any of it was conditional, eg appearances based. And it sounds as though they are trying to find out if the agent made fraudulent representations during the negotiations (there are leaked emails that suggest this may have happened), and they might want to use that to pay the agent less, or hold him responsible for an element of the transfer fee if he did. No business would blindly part with millions of pounds without considering these things.Originally posted by Leyton388 View PostCardiff need to pay up if the contracts were signed and he was officially a Cardiff player. It does look so at first sight, but unless they refuse to pay anything owed to the family than I don't think whether Nantes or Willie Mckay get paid X or y has much relevance to the memory of the guy himself, or his family. When there is a business involving the buying and selling of labour, these kind of issues will inevitably arise every so often unfortunately.Trey Nyoni: countdown to stardom-2 years1year0.5 years

This might be put on the agent that organised the flight, Sala apparently declining to use travel provided by Cardiff City and organising his own via the agent.Originally posted by spud_gun View PostNot sure contract law works on a 'most respectful basis'

Looks like they’re looking into negligence at the moment.
