Why should premier league clubs prop up terrible dodgy businessmen lower down? Basically punishing the honest clubs. The vetting needs to be better and fan representation on all boards to block/remove.

I agree the PL should fund grassroots football though.

Yeah, I kinda meant lower than the league leagues. I'm a regular to conference level and the benefit to the community at that level is more raw and direct than anything a league side could do. They are more responsible for nurturing the kids and face big hurdles to stay in business

Because they will benefit from it eventually. Professional & semi-pro football in the UK is probably has the most depth of football competition in the world.

This depth of competition and the quality of it (including quality of facilities) will definitely help produce better English & foreign players who play at those lower levels and some of those will go onto PL academies or first teams.

It's not the mandate of the PL clubs but it surely is of the FA. You could easily ensure it didn't prop up lousy ownership by putting the proceeds of a small PL tax towards lower league clubs by giving it out in the form of grants.

This would ensure that money couldn't be taken out of those clubs or used for other things that were not related to facilities & player development.

Not all chairman are bad either but most are business of course. My 2nd club are Bromley and after plodding along since 1892 they've made great strides in the last 10 years. They've brought in new owners, have invested in 2 4G pitches, one as the main pitch and the other a training facility. They've opened a new 1500 all seated stand with indoor pitches and conference facilities and run teams right though from U8. They don't need financial support and are well run. I'd hate to see badly run clubs benefit just to waste the money. It's a quandary

"Bologna manager Sinisa Mihajlovic made an emotional return to the dugout after being diagnosed with leukaemia just six weeks ago.

The 50-year-old Serb oversaw a 1-1 draw in Bologna's opening Serie A game of the season at Hellas Verona.

Mihajlovic, who has vowed to "win this battle", is having chemotherapy.

He promised his players he would be with them for the first game and he made it after spending the last 41 nights in hospital.

According to reports in Italy, Mihajlovic has kept up to date with events at the club by watching live videos of training sessions from the cancer ward of the Sant'Orsola Hospital in Bologna.

His official appearance was announced in a simple Twitter message by the club an hour before kick-off, while there were lots of messages of support - including one from Serie A rivals Napoli stating, "Forza Sinisa Mihajlovic".

There were also chants of supports from the visiting fans when Mihajlovic, looking physically weak, came out with his team at the start of the game.

The former Yugoslavia defender, who played for Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter Milan among others, returned to Bologna in January for his second spell in charge and guided them to a 10th place finish."

Burnley played, and got thrashed, tonight with 10 reserves. Is Joe Hart their main keeper? If not, then 11. *******s all saving their legs for us. Let's hope they regret not being in a winnable Cup even more on Saturday night.
