Coady has done well to get to the level he’s at but he’s not good enough for LFC.
Would be a step down from Gomez for sure.
Don’t see what kind of leadership qualities he’d bring either, as others have suggested. He’d be coming into a changing room full of champions league/prem league winners, and he’d be at best 4th choice center back… why would they look to him for leadership?
You have 3 options for backup players:
1) players who are young, it’s early in their career and they’re happy to be backup now, and develop into a first team player
2) players who are at their peak years, but who are not good enough to be a first teamer and are happy to be a backup.
3) players who are past their prime, but still have something to give.
When we have a generational talent in VVD, I think we need to be aiming for the first option for our backup defenders… a young promising talent who trains with the best in the world for a few years and then is a world class defender himself.
70%? Sounds roughly like the level of fiction i nthe accounts of clubs with fake sponsorship deals and players paid for additional 'ambassadorial' work
UEFA, European soccer’s governing body, has spent more than a year in talks with a representative group for elite clubs about a new model to replace its so-called financial fair play rules,
Soon as you read this you know its not going to be for the good of the game
Scotland were due to play Ukraine this week in a World Cup playoff semi final.
Obviously this match has, at best, been postponed for the time being. Scotland will play Poland this evening in a friendly with £10 from each ticket donated to the Ukraine humanitarian effort.
I can't help but feel that given the circumstances the best thing for all concerned would be for Scotland to step aside and for the team who'd play Ukraine in the play off final to do likewise.
Allow Ukraine to progress to the finals.
As has been mentioned elsewhere what is happening in Ukraine is already slipping down the news schedules.
In the grand scheme of things it's a comparatively small gesture but we mustn't allow what's happened in Ukraine to slip from the wider publics mind.

Yarmolenko came out and said they don't want any pity and to be given automatic qualification, that the players want to earn it.
If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

He did? Totally missed that.
Not sure the gesture would be one of pity though.
As per my previous post the aim would be to keep Ukraine and it's plight front and centre of the news cycle and peoples conscious.
Given the World Cup is almost 9 months away you'd hope that the war would be over but the rebuilding of Ukraine and it's people's recovery is going to take a lot longer.

Pity was probably poor paraphrasing by me. Tried to find the quote, but no joy. I just read it when queuing up to by my Daddy's papers the other morning.

I'm loving these Ryan Reynolds marketing skits - I even checked to see which league they played in. I might have a sneaky follow of their promotion bid this season too!
