if we met the full terms of the release clause and the owner didnt sign the paperwork - that could be constituted as illegal and would render Konoplyanka's contract with Dnipro invalid and we could still pursue a deal.

    interesting if true

It is not going to happen. His dad already said they have a good relationship. Would not take on a billionaire either

More likely we met the amount but in a structure that doesn't fit the clause I'd think.. Some people said at the start of this deal that the owner would take some persuading for him to sell, I think the hysteria around Ayre's role in this is ridiculous to be honest.

there are definitely concerns around Ian Ayre's ability to make deals happen but there are wider and more concerning concerns around the transfer committee as a whole.

the jury is still out as to whether its working or not.

It is a good point. Apparently Konoplyanka was for the summer and Salah for now. Convenient excuse. Would we need both? Cant really see that

First choice should be more valuable than second though shouldn't it? More shirt sales too as Salah is cheaper to get than Konoplyanka

Improved squad depth and more players who can actually score goals. Both good things for the team.

Spending 26m on the pair or something when funds are tight and we have other areas of pitch that need addressing is not the best use of funds

Are funds that tight? Does it mean we won't sign players for other positions? If no defensive and midfield targets were available should we not still go for attacking targets?
