Do you think there is only a single factor? I may not know all the factors, but I'm pretty confident in their being more than one. I don't know what happened so why be foolish and make knee-jerk accusations?

If this goes legal, can we still sign Konop outside the transfer window (considering everything else was done inside bar the illegal non-signing)?

          Simao

          Victor
          Villa

All in a very short space of time.

They were the ultimate outcomes in some cases, some is speculation and conjecture.

Unless you are privy to the intricate details there is no way of knowing why those transactions failed for us

All we know is that we didnt get the players and we need to ensure we have more success in our dealings in the future

Complain all we like, we can't sign the player outside of the transfer window

Are they under any obligation to sign though?

I'm not saying that, but there has to be action after this from the club to investigate other factors, not just assume Ayre's ability to negotiate is completely flawless...

I would think the obligation lies in the contract with the player, yes. If there actually is a release clause.

We can sign free agents until around the end of Feb though can't we?

If we really wanted to we could claim a breach of contract and sign him as a free agent.

I imagine the player has to sue the club rather than us. The contract is between player and club

I never claimed any of it to be factual (bar the joint Chelsea bit) did I? I even put a disclaimer saying it could be totally wrong.

If he's just refused to sign after we've triggered the release clause you'd have to think we'll get our man if we lodge a complaint. Surely no?

Says who? This is not a 'normal' circumstance if the story is true.

Release clauses must be legally binding, otherwise irrelevant in a contract.
