No idea, SSN seem to think it was a genuine release clause, the Dnipro president just didn't sign.

What a ****. Can we complain about that?
What release clause? That's new isn't it?

        I can't believe that.

Plus, internet fan forums have been around for some time now. They're not a new phenomenon. And I don't remember our club having such a string of high profile failures in many years.
I remember a load. Our position of being out the cl for so long has probably weakened us though.

If there was a release clause then that actually does suggest that we could have had him if we had offered the trigger amount earlier. Maybe it actually was a case of faffing about?

I don't think you can 'trigger' a release clause by offering a structure payment rather than the full sum immediately, which was apparently what we were going for the entire time.

If it's a proper release clause then we could likely take it further. Whether all parties have the stomach or time is another matter I reckon.

I genuinely can't remember the last time we had such a succession of high profile transfer failures. Which ones are you referring to?

Medical & personal terms were done, #LFC had triggered buyout clause. Owner refused to sign paperwork.
If that's true, LFC might have a legal case?

If that is genuinely the case we'd have a legal team on it as he would have no grounds to refuse

We'd been over there in plenty of time though.

There was talk of a legal dispute earlier today innit.

There was talk of pretty much ****ing everything mind

I can obviously ony go off what SSN are saying. But they said we offered £15m which triggered his release clause, he then had his medical and personal terms where agreed, all the Dnipro president had to do was sign the release paperwork, which he refused to.

Reds fail in Konoplyanka transfer as Dnipro owner refuses to sign paperwork

                                31 Jan 2014 23:53

Ihor Kolomoyskyi reluctance to sign on deal means frustration in Ukraine

There was deadline day disappointment for Liverpool as they failed to complete a deal for Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk’s Yevhen Konoplyanka.

Reds managing director Ian Ayre had spent 48 hours in Ukraine desperately trying to negotiate a £15million deal for the 24-year-old winger.

However, Ayre had to admit defeat after there was no breakthrough before the 11pm cut-off.

The ECHO understands it didn’t come down to a lack of finance but simply the reluctance of Dnipro’s multi-billionaire president Ihor Kolomoyskyi to sell one of his prized assets.

Konoplyanka was desperate to make the move to Anfield and personal terms with Liverpool had already been agreed.

The player informed Kolomoyskyi of his desire to seek a new challenge and link up with Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

However, Kolomoyskyi point blank refused to sign the relevant paperwork.

Despite reports suggesting interest from a number of other European clubs, Liverpool were also the only club in direct discussions with the Ukrainians.
