Thank you for confirming my point.Originally posted by vlahka View PostAnd what exactly would the heavily biased BBC have an issue with? Nothing here is trump related either so not sure why your brain went to him. If you want to bring up a rancid politician then bring up Starmer. At least he'd be in the same country.
I suggest we don't continue our bilateral conversation any longer...it is boring for others.

[IFAB] Law change from next season, if a goalkeeper holds the ball for longer than eight seconds (with the referee using a visual five-second countdown), the referee will award a corner kick to the opposing team (rather than the current indirect free kick for more than six seconds).
Good idea but will they actually enforce it. I’ve never seen an indirect free kick given for this before.

What we'll discover, from experience, is that they'll enforce it against us but never against a team we're playingOriginally posted by peterbread View Post[IFAB] Law change from next season, if a goalkeeper holds the ball for longer than eight seconds (with the referee using a visual five-second countdown), the referee will award a corner kick to the opposing team (rather than the current indirect free kick for more than six seconds).

The issue will be enforcement given the current crop of refs & then watch opponents try to stop a quick throw, keeper fall to floor, further delay....Originally posted by Norbs View PostWhat we'll discover, from experience, is that they'll enforce it against us but never against a team we're playing
nice in theory, impossible to police correctly

Time to get the crowd involved!Originally posted by peterbread View Post[IFAB] Law change from next season, if a goalkeeper holds the ball for longer than eight seconds (with the referee using a visual five-second countdown), the referee will award a corner kick to the opposing team (rather than the current indirect free kick for more than six seconds).

I like it, I think that the current rule is so hard to enforce because it's so harsh to give an indirect free kick, I think it will be easier to give a corner, probably will take around 10 seconds in reality but still and improvement I think.* The above is posted in my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

A crowd countdown finishing in "Corner!" should do the trick in the first game at Anfield. Although, I imagine we will be away somewhere important for the start of next season, and Ali will be done in 5 seconds or something similar.Originally posted by The_weatherman View PostI like it, I think that the current rule is so hard to enforce because it's so harsh to give an indirect free kick, I think it will be easier to give a corner, probably will take around 10 seconds in reality but still and improvement I think. We are here for a good time not a long time....

Typical of the FA. Clearly they have recognised that we are poop at corners so all came together to come up with a way to get more corners into the game.
That Arsenal coach will be getting a gold statue to go with his mural. If we are all only happy when we are really winning in the end, when your race finishes, what life would that be?

I see that the whole "keeping the flag down until the phase of play is completed" has now resulted in a quite serious injury. I wonder if they will rethink the ruling slightly, or if it is just one of those things.
Nottingham Forest
Elanga was in an offside position when he collected the ball but the assistant referee did not raise their flag until after Awoniyi's collision.
When an immediate goalscoring opportunity is likely to occur, assistant referees are told to keep their flag down until the passage of play is complete.
If a goal is scored, the incident can then be reviewed by the video assistant referee (VAR).
Although this allows goals to be scored, critics say the protocol needlessly endangers players.
