Sturridge is versatile enough to play on either side of a central striker but I can't see them playing together. Not regularly anyway.

I think they will a fair amount - especially against the weaker teams. I really can't see the logic of buying Lambert and Remy if we won't use two up top at least a fair amount of the time.

We saw last season how well Sturridge can do when asked to drift away from a starting point in a front two and Lambert played up top with Rodriguez a lot last season from what I saw/read.

i think Remy could play on the left hand side of a front 3. And play at the top if / when Sturridge is out injured / rested.

If we play a 4-3-3 formation, then the man on the left of the midfield 3 will be very important - likely to be either Lallana or Henderson the majority of the time. He will need to work extra hard to compensate Remy's possible laziness.

I just really feel like we have the squad now that will allow Brendan to tell the players to run their bollox off - he can rest them in the following game. If we had 2 more players in our squad last season, then we'd have won the league. We were running on empty towards the end of the campaign and when Henderson got suspended, that really ****ed us up..... hopefully we have a squad now that can absorb such mishaps and kick on. The real test will be brendan integrating all of the players into the group at the right rate, rotating players at the right time and ensuring that they're not like tottenham last season - barely even knowing what their teammates preferred foot is!! I think on the opening day of the season, we could potentially see only Lallana as a new signing in our starting line-up. And that would be fine with me - let the likes of Markovic, Remy, Lovern, Lambert get used to playing with their teammates from the bench for 15 mins here and there when we hopefully have the game won....

Can't wait for the new season to start. I hope to fowler that we use the 2 domestic cups to give our young players experience in the team....

Good price. If he doesn't work out then, based on his history, there is likely to be a Newcastle, villa, WHU, or club in Europe that would fancy taking him on for 5 or 6 million....

He is a French international. The price is a steal. He can play left of a 3 as well as top. Has pace, has good technique and can score if chances are presented to him. He will have more chances than ever before being in this attacking liverpool side.

The fact that France are hosts in the next European championships in 2 years time is likely to provide great motivation.

My only concern is the rape allegation and the recent drink driving conviction. Perhaps not the nicest chappie.

The rape one is always in the back of my head, but as long as things don't resurface, I don't particularly care. The driving business doesn't really bother me. I know you shouldn't really do it, but hey, I've done it before (I don't, but sometimes your hands are tied), most people I know do it and as long as he doesn't kill anyone, himself or get caught it's not really a concern of mine.

He hasn't really had any poor reports of bringing down squad harmony or training like **** etc. And that's more important as that's what will effect us on a day to day basis.

Loic Remy will be a hit at Liverpool says Newcastle Chronicle's Neil Cameron

French striker Loic Remy is expected to complete his move to Liverpool FC this week and, according to the Newcastle Chronicle’s sports reporter, Neil Cameron, Reds fans should be excited.

Very excited.

The Reds have triggered the 27-year-old’s £8m buyout clause and Cameron says for that money, Liverpool are buying a star.

He told the ECHO: “Well you have signed a player I’ll tell you that for nothing.

“Towards the end of the season he’d given up the ghost just like everyone else had. But from when he got in the team, when he signed he was injured, he really started to click.

“He scored a couple of goals at St. James’ against Hull and from that moment on they went on a really decent run and he was genuinely brilliant.

“He was a real pleasure to watch. It wasn’t just his goals, it was his running off the ball and I’m not just saying this but the only player I saw last season who was as good at that was (Luis) Suarez.”

Remy’s record in the Premier League is impressive. Six goals for QPR, 14 for Newcastle, 40 games played - a record of one in two. It follows a slow start to his career in which he failed to score for Lyon.

He later moved to Marseilles and Lyon where he had a similar goalscoring record of one in two - before a big money move to QPR.

He was that good on Tyneside he had the locals comparing him to Thierry Henry. It might not be a comparison Reds fans want to hear, after all, Liverpool have had the "next Zidane" and the "next Vieira", and that didn’t work out so well.

Cameron won’t go as far as saying Remy is the next Henry - but he can certainly see the comparison.

“(Former Newcastle midfielder) Rob Lee is a columnist of ours and he’s usually pretty spot on and he said he could be as good as Henry.

“I think he was getting a bit carried away there but you know when he’s really at it and he’s carrying the ball across the pitch the comparisons are there.

“He’s not Thierry Henry OK, but you could see what he was meaning, he was that good for that period.”

The former Newcastle and QPR man is expected to provide competition up front with Daniel Sturridge and Rickie Lambert and Cameron believes he could fit in playing in one of the wider positions, allowing 21-goal Sturridge to play through the middle.

“That would suit Remy a bit more,” explained Cameron. “He can play on his own up front and he did that.

“It was done at Cardiff they won 3-1 and he scored two goals that day. Cisse played in the middle and he kind of played off to the left and he was brilliant.

“He was cutting in on his right foot and he scored two cracking goals. He can play that role and I can see why Rodgers has gone for him because he can play off the frontman no problem at all.

“He is also good in the air. It’s a bit of his game that you don’t notice but he is good at that.”

Remy scored 14 goals for Newcastle last year but an end-of-season slump saw the Magpies suffer eight defeats in 10 games and Remy was accused of effectively downing tools as the season petered out.

Cameron says he will have no such problems at Anfield - mainly because the club compete for trophies.

He explained: “He got sent off in the last minute against Norwich, a really forgettable draw at Carrow Road, he lost his head and was pushing and shoving and all that and he was banned for three games and he missed the derby.

“To be perfectly honest he never did a huge amount after that. The team went on a huge slump after that.

“His head went down and you can tell he wasn’t interested which isn’t great to have on your CV - however for the three or four months when he was scoring goals and making goals he was genuinely good to watch.

“Put it this way, unless there has been a real change of heart at Anfield that I don’t know of, I don’t think Liverpool have an open policy of trying not to win trophies.”

Cameron also says Remy will reap the rewards of having a better team around him - and they will help him score lots of goals in a Red shirt.

“You have to remember Newcastle aren’t a great side and to get goals and make goals like he did is hugely impressive.

“It helped when he had (Yohan) Cabaye with him, Just feeding him passes and Liverpool have got loads of players that can do that for him.

“The game at Old Trafford (Newcastle won 1-0), he didn’t score that day but he was asked to run the line and he was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Really unselfish.

“He has a reputation that he hasn’t got that. For the goal it was his run that took away a couple of defenders.

“Once Cabaye went, and I can’t emphasise this enough he was brilliant, Remy kind of went as well.”

All great strikers need good service behind them to help them score goals so Remy will surely be licking his lips in anticipation of a move to Anfield.

Passes from Philippe Coutinho, crosses from Raheem Sterling, flicks from Adam Lallana - and those brilliant free-kicks from a certain Steven Gerrard.

Remy just has to get on the end of them, and let the goals flow.

I don't think it's fair to judge him over a claim that he was cleared over. Either you think he is guilty or not.

He was cleared so that's the end of it for me.
