Until we work out which striker it is that we are after at the expense of Depay.

What I would say to this, is wtf are we targeting a player and, according to good sources, grooming him for a move when it's quite well known that if Man U make their inevitable move, he'll join them.

Waste of time and resources anyone? I still think there's something awry about our transfer procedure.

PSV have officially confirmed a fee with Manchester United for Memphis Depay.
We are ****ing pathetic. Wasted so much time on this.

I think we have to try these things. Some things don't work out - that's life. If we didn't try people would complain we lacked the ambition.

Two days after we "put the deal on hold" they sign him up. You either want a player or you don't, can't **** them around.

Moved to start the healing process.

If we have put in all this work with Depay and its come to nothing, you have to ask what on earth was going on.

I guess Man Utd have done a bit more than picked up the phone for a quick deal. But still. We seem to lose out on all the decent players like this.

Or 'putting the deal on hold' was code for being outbid/told he wanted United no matter what and we moved on to targets with a higher chance of success?

A couple of hours later. Even quicker than I expected to be honest

We're going to sign someone Utd want, he must be amazing.

He doesn't guarantee (as much as anyone can) that he'll score goals in the PL and get us back to the top 4 does he.

                    No different to Ings really.
Except that Ings has proven he can score goals in the PL in a poor team, set up to defend.

When Depay signs for Utd (if they want him, he'll choose them over us 100%)same ones on here will be saying how **** and overrated he is

                    Too soon?

Possibly but we've been courting him for over a year. You'd think he'd have told us before or we'd think to get him signed up before they get involved.

                        Inevitable really.

All because Ayre deemed Ings a more vital signing.

                            Come on mate, honestly?
How much time to you know we 'wasted' on it?

For all we know the first phone call contained the words "I'd love to play for Liverpool but if LvG and Utd come in I'll choose them.

LvG is also Dutch, I've worked with him for the National Team, they're in the CL and they'll pay me more"

Don't get the angst over someone we were never ever going to buy.

We've been sending a delegation of reps to watch him and talk to his people pretty much fortnightly for 18 months possibly even two years.

Sure United will have also put some spadework in but ffs. Same **** every time.

The thing is we all knew once United were in for him then he would go to them - Van Gaal connection and their relationship with PSV (Van Nist, Stam)

The real frustrating thing is why did we wait so long, if it is true that we were scouting him/in touch with his agent for the last 18 months why did we wait until now to bid for him? A much earlier bid might have forced United's hand allowing us time to look for a similar type of player.

Although that might be the renowned Paul-Georges Ntep.......
