Oh naturally, but if Rafa wanted to move for the big Spanish thing or Klopp for the hot German talent, we'd probably still encounter transfer issues along the same line as any not-quite-top team would..................I mean, it's not like we're hoovering up top British players (if there even are any) under Brendan.

We can pay top dollar for the crap leftover, regardless of nationality.......that's never in doubt.

Yeah but to Spanish players back then Rafa was La Liga winning manager and Klopp will have the reputation of being a Bundesliga winning manager for German players.

So even to british talent Rodgers would not have quite the same appeal as what a young title winning manager would.


I agree that we would still have issues targeting the best players, but for the players a notch below we might appear a tad more attractive a destination with a manager who has title winning credentials and a higher CL profile.


I'm not calling for Rodgers to get the boot, but I can see why a title winning manager may make the club a little more attractive to some players.

We'll have difficulty attracting/signing players because:

1. We rarely compete for the 'top' silverware
2. No regular CL qualification
3. Don't pay the required wages
4. A manager with a track record of winning bugger all
5. Geographic reasons

If we could offer one of these it would make things easier.

Yeah. Last summer we could have offered nr. 2 and should have been able to offer nr. 3 for a marquee signing IMO but so it is.

Sure look at AC Milan. Huge name with a ridiculous history and pedigree, they are also second tier these days....in fact their in an even worse state than us. Football moves so quickly these days.

We do seem to be a second tier club in mind of top players these days, big names are nice but we just need to address the balance in the side first.

I'm disappointed this didn't really get to full blown LFC Transfer 'Saga' status. Only 280 posts FFS. Its not even the end of the season and this one has already got away.

I think their problem apart from money is that they are notorious for holding onto or buying old/finished players.

They are second tier at the moment but I honestly believe if they'd spent the same amount we had, they wouldn't be.
