Trust me, I wasn't leaping around when England scored the winner, but I make no bones about being pleased about it. I was laughing out loud when Suarez scored against England in 2014, but this is a pretty likeable set up.

It's nice to be able to enjoy a tournament, invest nothing, hope to see England do well in it and then not lose a wink of sleep when they go out. The World Cup is great - it's just a sideshow, a distraction, but it's got to be enjoyed.

Dead right. I also wouldn't underestimate how likeable Gareth Southgate is. Young manager wanting his team to press and pass and move. Good on him.

Careful fellas, this smells fishy. I'm suspecting a shaggy honey trap, drawing closet England fans out of a woodwork for a mass "You racist Burberry Ing-er-land ******s ' multiquote.

Its certainly looking like a sting operation. Unless he's found some decent **** that has mellowed the **** out of him

It baffles me that people cannot put aside club football for an International Tournament. I understand friendlies being pointless and a waste of everyone's time during the season. But competitive international football has always been great fun for me.

International Tournaments are a bit of fun. It wont matter when we go out, itll be brilliant if we win it.

Southgate is a nice guy, the team on the whole is full of decent players who dont seem to have the large egos and they try and play good football (Opening 30 yesterday as an example)

Club Tribalism has ruined international football over the years, and its nice to see it fading a bit for this WC.

                I’m massively jealous.

We used to qualify all the time when I was a kid, but sadly it’s now been 20 years. I agree with the general sentiment on the face of it this is an England team supporters can rally behind bereft of any real ‘stars’.

I still think they will fall at the first substantial hurdle and the press will remain horrendous. But who knows.

That list just doesn't compare. Sterling isn't a cunt imo, in fact I'm right behind him while our racist tabloids try to destroy him. Lingard is such a **** non entity he couldn't possibly be a cunt. Alli is a cunt for Spurs but nothing compared to the others in previous years, and Kane is so beige I couldn't possibly hate him. In fact I thought he was Walsall bound for years, and I admire him for absolutely maxing out his minimal ability as a footballer. He's become an incredible goalscorer.

There's no one to truly hate in this team. Just a bunch of young lads trying their best, and I can well get on board with them in a 4 week tournament.
Couldn't agree more about Sterling. Disgusting treatment by the predictable rags. I wish some of our superfans would save their "vermin" comments for the actual pond life reporters and editors who trade in this ****.

It's daft I know, but I still can't stand England, just because of their supporters. I hate the Ingurland brigade. Last night was a prime example of England fans in general. First half was, 'you know what, we're playing lovely stuff, we might actually win,' and then second half was, 'oh this is ****, blah blah'.

I reckon if I was in another country, I would back England (I think they'll win the tournament), but living here, I just can't do it. Irrational I know, but I can't shake it off.

I literally never come across those sorts of fans though. Where do you see them?

I dont watch it in pubs, my mates are mostly fans of football. I dont read tabloids ever.

Twitter is only the place I come across them and even then its basically just a few journos I like laughing about the idiots.

I think the only thing that pisses me off about England is that ****ING BAND! But even they were missing last night.

This is pretty funny from a piece of scum posting articles supporting Tommy Robinson!

One amazing thing about the World Cup so far is th absolute lack of supporter violence. Hats of to Putin, just goes to show what can be achieved in functioning totalitarian regime that rules by fear.

Got the win but should have battered them, finishing was terrible, Sterling was terrible, Hendo and Trippier were great

I can't bring myself to hate this England team but only really because they are so bland and characterless.

I quite like Southgate and he seems like a nice chap.

Can't stand the majority of In-ger-land fans though, even last night they were full of "**** off Muzzie ******s" etc every time Tunisia got the ball.
