Would we want Salah taking multiple penalties in a game? Or put better- if we got multiple penalties in a game, would we want Salah taking them all?
It adds an extra layer to the mind games, of whether to go the same direction as the first one, etc, and must add to the pressure. On the other hand, if someone else takes it, it must be additional pressure if your taking one even though you’re not the designated penalty taker, and the penalty taker has already scored one. I think it makes sense to have a different taker for the second penalty, if the likes of Milner is on the pitch.
It would be interesting to look into the stats of games where a team gets 2 penalties and the same player takes both- how often they go the same direction, the conversion rates of the second pen compared to the first, etc.I don't tip

Twitter thread on Kane's 2 pens, and Hendo doing his penalty taker protection thing and no-one assuming the role after he went offThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

I don't think anyone is suggesting he scored the first solely because of the role Henderson did and missed the second because no one was doing it.
However the consensus of opinion seems to be that the longer between the award of the penalty and it being taken the more likely the player is to miss, similarly opposition players are able to put off the taker. I imagine the more pressure on the penalty given the situation, such as there being 10mins left an needing to score to keep your team in the WC the more these small effects are amplified. Obviously the skill of the penalty taker is the main factor, but the team minimising other factors has to help.
Of course the other question is should you have the same taker take multiple pens in a match, this was a particularly difficult situation as he was going up against his club mate who he much have taken hundreds of pens against in training. IMO that is a decision for the manager, obviously Kane will say he backs himself to score and if someone else steps up and misses people will ask why Kane doesn't take it, but management is about those types of decisionsThe only gracious way to accept an insult is to ignore it; if you can't ignore it, top it; if you can't top it, laugh at it; if you can't laugh at it, it's probably deserved.

He looked nervous, and it must've played on him rhat he'd already gone left and doubt crept in. He tried badly to hit it high and down the middle and it went horribly wrongOriginally posted by Exiled_red View PostI don't think anyone is suggesting he scored the first solely because of the role Henderson did and missed the second because no one was doing it.
