Yes it's worked for Arsenal for years (Pires & Ljungberg before Hleb & Rosicky) - makes you wonder doesn't it. Zidane is another who comes to mind.

Gerrard's played well on the left for England before (Turkey away when Beckham & Alpay clashed), but he wasn't so good for us when he played there for us at Chelsea this season.

I'm not sure if this option has been raised previously but might Gerrard be an option for the left as opposed to the right? Allowing him to drift inside onto his favoured foot? And maybe Gonzales/Kewell/A.N. Other on the right?

I certainly think at the moment, what with Garcia, Gonzalez and Kewell all out injured, it is an option that Rafa may seriously consider. He played there against the Chavs at the Bridge afterall.
