there are loads of precedents that a top player has only been chased by one club. just cause he other big clubs aren't after him does not mean he not worthy...

he's a top player, with lots of quality, i have watched his career these last few years and i know what he has to bring to the table, it just remains to be seen if he works out for us, but the lad is quality that i know...

His market value and cost to us will depend entirely upon how well he plays whilst on loan and the interest level at the end of the loan period. Setting any value now is folly.

don't reckon rafa does bluishness like that, leaving it open like that, i reckon a fee will be agreed before he arrives on loan...

it would be silly to take him on a loan with the possibility of a long term signing and have the signing fee up in the air, they would never reach an agreement after the season...

Scousers in bid to bend rules!

          Filed: Tuesday, 16th January 2007

          By: Gordon Thrower

Liverpool have contacted FIFA in an attempt to find a way around the player registration rules and enable them to sign Javier Mascherano.

The Merseysiders have been considering a bid for the unselttled midfielder. The current rules, however, prevent players for playing for more than two clubs in a twelve-month period.

Having appeared for Brazilian side Corinthians as well as United since July 2006, Mascherano would appear to be prevented from leaving the Boleyn until the summer transfer window opens.

However, a FIFA spokesman confirmed today that correspondence had been received from Anfield and that "a case has been opened".

More on this as the story develops.

So we signed him yet then? Funny how everything has been pretty calm this transfer window, as opposed to previous seasons. Is it because we're finally starting to assemble a decent squad and we aren't in desperate need of players.

I suppose it'll all change in the summer with the dic money (assuming Rafa gets a sizeable kitty), but it's refreshing that everyone isn't going nuts, or complaining that we've signed no one yet (the young kids asside).

Whilst I hope Mascherano does come as he is obviously a top quality player, i do have concerns about the number of South Americans Rafa is buying. So far we have Aurelio, Paletta, Gonzalez & Insua. South american players have an exceptionally poor record in England. For every Ardiles there have been plenty of Verons. Its obviously very difficult for them to settle in a country so different than their own.

I think Rafa will have to be careful here. Its far easier in Spain to buy S Americans as the language, climate & culture is so similar. Rafa will obviously be aware of this but its asking an awful lot for young S Americans, however talented, to bridge both the footballing & cultural divides between their homeland & England.

                There's only one...

                Javier Mascherano.

A few sites seem to be running the fact he'll be allowed here. Personally, i'm absoluted delighted. Great player to have in the squad for the run in + he's available in Europe.

If you think that watching a game on TV and watching a game live is hardly any different then you obviously know **** all.
                      sorry to offend you.:whatever:

i dont even know why im having this argument with you. You've never seen him play. So you have no argument in the first place

Apart from the atmosphere, and seeing what players do behind play then there isnt much difference IMO. Ive been to Anfield, ive watched games from the wing, and from behind the goals. Granted watching a match from behind the goals is totally different, but thats pretty bleedin obvious.

Think what you like, but your basing your opinions purely on a racial issue...not on a footballing one. We get it you dont like Argentinians, whether that stems from the hand of god, or the Falklands i dont know, but you look like more of a **** with everything you say.

I love the way you've just made this up to suit your own agenda. I've never said I don't like Argentinians, there is the odd Argentinian I don't like but that has nothing to do with their nationality.

You do realise that if you can't have a debate over an issue without resorting to name calling and baselessly accusing people of racism it actually weakens your argument and makes you look very stupid and immature.
